Summary: The game was excelent, the fighting could be a little bit better, but overall good game. I bought at full price, which i would not recomend, but at a low cheap price the game is worth it. However somewhat short, but worth playing again on harder setting once you beat it.
Conclusion: I bought this game last night at a Blockbuster for $7. In the hour or so I got into it, I have to say its pretty cool. But there are just so many bugs in this game. Obviously Majesco turned into an asshat and demanded that the game go out before it was finished. It really could have been something special if everything was fixed.
Conclusion: You have two weapon slots at a time. You can have two guns, two powers or one gun and one power slotted at any given time. In order to switch between powers, you just click the thumb stick and map the power to either hand (kind of like the Deus Ex inventory interface). It’s really easy to use and you can swap stuff out in a half-a-second’s time. Each power and weapon has a secondary fire that you unlock by using the power/weapon and levelling it up.
Conclusion: Alright, thanks. I’m definately going to pick this one up the next time I stop by Gamestop. Neat second chance recomendations like this are part of what make Videolamer so great, keep up the good work!
Conclusion: I know I wrote this game off after reading the reviews, but now it doesn’t seem half bad. Can any power be used at any time, like Psi-Ops, or do you have to access a menu? Does the game use the old 2 weapon slots setup or can you carry a more robust arsenal?
Conclusion: This game actually sounds interesting, based on your review. Has anyone else played this so I know that Tony isn’t a crazy Orson Scott Card fanboy before I delve into developing my ripoff Jedi powers?
Conclusion: Advent rising is the game to get if story means anything to you in a game. By far one of the best, most epic story in a game. Ever. Although the gameplay can get glitchy and the cutscenes are a mess at times it is still worth it for any sci fi fanatic. The weapons are cool but the powers are awesome. Music if one of the best in a game. So beautiful haunting and angelic. Voice acting was very good as well.
Conclusion: If you don’t like this game, I understand. There some technical issues to get around. And a few other things here and there, but when you play a game, you can’t about what you think it should have been, you have to look at what it is. From this point of view Advent Rising is an amazing game, though it doesn’t get everything right, it really opens the door for other games like it.
Conclusion: Advent Rising, one of the very few games that is worthy to hold it's own in the world of gaming, despite it's flaws. I am not going to get into the habit of spoiling games for readers, so I wont begin now. I will say however, that it has an amazing story when one endeavors to ponder it. It may seem small or isolated on the surface, but as it progresses, as one ponders it twists, the backstroy, one truly begins to see it for what it is.
