187 Ride or Die

Game Vortex
26 February 2006
  • Excerpt: 187 Ride or Die looks fantastic, making looks one of the game's few high points. In particular, the car and city models look great and show off some really nice details and sharp texture work. The looks are enhanced by Burnout -level lighting and special effects that give the game that graphical "pop" few others are able to pull off. I was also impressed to see how well the developers were able to pull off the "feel" of driving around Los Angeles.

187: Ride or Die

  • Excerpt: What an exciting place L.A. is. All they do there all day long is race around in customised cars, while attractive women sit in the back firing automatic weapons. The objective is clear: to prove that they are the ‘O.G.’ of that particular piece of turf. If you don’t live in L.A., you can only imagine what it must be like to live this reckless but exciting life. Perhaps you are thinking of moving there, to stake your claim to the tarmac.

  • Conclusion: A plodding, exploitive game that lacks the speed and thrills necessary to compete with other racing games out on the market.

187 Ride or Die

  • Excerpt: I’m not really all that sure what the “187” in 187 Ride or Die’s title signifies, but my confusion over the title is minor compared to the confusion experienced by the game’s designers when developing the game. Is the game a street racer? A car combat shooter? A hip-hop gansta’ action game?

187 Ride or Die Review

VideoGamer.com
8 October 2005
  • Excerpt: 187 Ride or Die is clearly Ubisoft's attempt at making a game that has some street cred. Essentially a racing game with weapons, you've got your home boys, pimped out rides, guns, women and plenty of hip-hop. There's nothing horribly wrong with it, but the 'street' style seems incredibly forced and the game doesn't have the imagination or variation to keep it interesting. While there's a story that plays alongside the racing, it's not too great.

  • Excerpt: Whether it's a misconception or a shameful truth, the whole virtual "gangsta" lifestyle of excessive violence and excessively foul language would seem to be the latest cash cow for many game developers, as Ubisoft's 187 Ride of Die apparently attests.

187 Ride or Die

DarkStation
2 September 2005
  • Conclusion: I must admit even though there are a lot of dry moments with this game that just don’t seem to flow all that well together, the whole overall picture of this game is that there are some memorable and fun sequences that can occur with this game. I must say that while playing co-op or online you will find that this is where the game really shines bright and you can see that this game had a ton of potential but none of it was grasped well enough in the single player portion...

Blinx: The Time Sweeper

DarkStation
10 October 2002
  • Conclusion: Blinx really has some great ideas, and actually has another use for the Hard Drive besides just saving storage, and game add-ons. Blinx comes full with some great things and some really poor thing, and when the bad out weigh the good that creates poor results. As much as I love the new idea of being able to rewind, fast forward, and pause time, the execution of the game was really below average.
