Summary: I have a ZyXEL 5500 wireless router, a 3205 WAP out in my shop and I bought this 3205 ver 2 for the back bedroom. Both 3205s are set up as wireless bridge/repeaters and they work great. I had no trouble configuring them as others have complained about. I did NOT use the disk, just plug your PC ethernet port directly into the LAN 1 port, open up Chrome or Explorer, and issue address 192.168.1.2 (the default for the 3205) and you'll get to the setup screens.
Summary: Let me be very clear about something- this is a fantastic booster, but you need a tiny tidbit of technical know-how to set it up in under fifteen minutes. Lacking that, you can easily become lost. Step 1) discard the quick start instructions and proceed to the user guide. Step 2) open the user guide pdf to the page "Universal Repeater". Step 3) reassign your IP address to the accepted range, follow the directions and profit. It truly was that simple for me.
Excerpt: I was looking for a way to add "on-demand" WIFI to my computer system for a couple of new cameras I've recently purchased. I had a hard-wired PC connection to a cable modem and this access point coupled with a simple router allows me to keep my computer hard-wired to the system with the ability to switch on WIFI as needed. Thanks to the knowledgeable salesman in B&H's computer department for the recommendation - kudos!! Zyxel offers friendly and helpful tech support too.
Summary: The software for this router is pretty hard to figure out, especially if you are using it as a wifi extender. But if you aren't it's a great router. You just have to be tech-savvy, and DON'T throw away the instructions.
Summary: The set up was very easy with this item. Unfortunately do to the set up of the college campus it didn't work for me as far as getting me internet connection but it did correctly show up a new network with 5 bars so I am sure if the college wasn't set up as it was it would have worked out great I would definitely recommend this but make sure it is compatible with the network you are trying to integrate it with
Summary: I bought this knowing full well what others have said about how hard it is to install. I didn't even try to read the instructions – I just called the 800-number and got tech-support to walk me through the installation process. The whole process took me less than 15 minutes, including hold time (called around 9am on a Monday and was on hold for less than 2 minutes). No frustration, no hassle, and now it works like a champ! Definitely worth the money.
Summary: Very easy to setup but I can see it could be challenging if you rely solely on step by step instructions, once you get into the GUI it's fairly intuitive to setup and make advanced config changes, for the money it works very well and is very good value.
