Summary: I've had these powerline adapters for about a year now. Overall, I am disappointed. Speeds are fine, but connection consistency is VERY unreliable. I was getting very frequent "soft" connection drops where I'd lose network access for a short amount of time. This was very frustrating when playing games online or downloading files. I went through an RMA process with Zyxel that was a little muddled but overall fine. I got two new adapters.
Summary: Complete waste of time. Didn't work when I bought it, and doesn't work months later when I tried again. Instructions are awful. I don't see how to make it join my existing network. Maybe it has to be the only network in the house, but who could know one way or the other? The devices don't show up in the setup utility.
Summary: I could have run Cat5 cable outside my house and drilled holes in the walls but with these I have no need to. They are fantastic. No configuration needed. I connected a single 1Gbps adapter to my router so it wouldn't be a bottleneck and placed others around my house. They increased latency only 1ms during ping tests which is tiny.
Summary: As others have posted on their reviews of this product: when it works, it works... when it doesn't work, things go to hell pretty fast. I actually own 4 of these devices, and have been using them for about 10 months. I would say for the first 2 to 3 months I never had a problem with these devices. You plug them in, connect them to your computer, and you would get reliable upload and download streams (faster than Wi-Fi).
Summary: I did due diligence in reviewing this type of product in that it has been a year since I bought the last one for a relative and it seems things changed a bit. I am confident that this will work just fine although I have yet to tune it up. When I am done playing around with Chromecast then I will look into the best way to use this item. I love the idea of using a homes existing power grid, just brilliant.
Summary: Initially, I was pleased enough with this that I got a second one. Its easy to set up but until I got another brand, I hadn't realized how weak its signal was. I have a two story townhouse and use one upstairs and one downstairs. While my cell phone recognizes it, the signal is not strong enough to be of much use.
Summary: Could absolutely not get it to work. I had to disable my AV for my computer to even detect it. The utility has no configuration options. The manual is sparse to say the least. This is going back.
Summary: I have one in my living room where the router is. One in my bedroom and one in my office. My bedroom is on the same circuit and gets 100% bandwidth! Amazing. My office is all the way on the other side so it takes a hit. But it's still fast enough for most every task! These things are so incredible! Highly recommend for those that don't want to run cable!
Summary: Right off the bat, the included software refused to install, kept saying I don't have privileges but I am the admin and ran the .exe file as Administrator. Got the lights to flash on both units, but my TV said there was no network. I'm not going to waste anymore of my time. I'll inflict it on someone I don't like for x-mas. Finally read through all the reviews and got it to work, have no idea what the speeds are since the software wont install, but works as advertised.
