Summary: You won’t get the full advertised speed (nor should you expect to), but it works very well. I use it in a NYC apartment and even being on separate floors (but behind the same breaker box) it is sufficient for streaming Netflix, etc. Note that an idle connection takes a few seconds to re-establish itself when you first try to get data, so don’t be surprised if a connection doesn’t always work right way if it has been idle for a bit.
Works well in pairs, but needs better software for linking multiple sets
6 December 2013
Summary: Bought two sets. The first set works great. Fast. Happy with this. When I tried to link all four together though (one to router and 3 around the house), the software to program them from Zyxel is not intuitive. The MAC addresses you need to link all of them are written very tiny on the plug side so you have to disconnect to get to it, magnifying glass to read it. Software is not clear and certainly not automatic. I have extensive experience with networking and computers.
Summary: I bought this product for an apartment where a wire could not be ran from one area to another. Wireless would have worked but was not sufficient for streaming videos from one computer to another so I figured I would give this a try. After attempting to pair them once or twice I ended up getting them to work and got my advertised speed from the ISP and an excellent intranet speed as well.
Summary: This item fit the bill of my situation and provided a better solution than wireless. Very easy to setup. Definitely need to follow the instructions of plugging directly into a power outlet and not into a power strip which will degrade the signal. Shipping was very fast too!
Summary: Instructions were vague and wrong info. Had to go online to company website for correct instructions. This led to difficulty getting system up and running but once running it works great. A beginner may have difficulty installing device.
Summary: I bought these because I live in a two-story house where the modem and router are required to be downstairs. I have tried several wireless solutions but there was too much interference and no wireless adapters could maintain a stable connection or achieve full speed (60Mbps down, 25up). I thought that these would solve the problem but it appears that even for the powerline adapters it is not close enough to get full speed--I get half speed (~30mbps down but 20up).
Summary: Purchased a pair of these in Nov 12 to replace a faulty unit of same make and type. The slim design fitted the gap I have between unit and floor, allowing good cable access. The adaptor works very well. Plug it in and in seconds it connects. The downside for me is that I have a failure from this last purchase and have just found another from an earlier buy, meaning that adaptor is not making it to a year old.
