Summary: I did not test the adapters with anything other than my Ooma box so I can't say how well it would work for streaming any other data.
Pros: Easy setup - Just plug it in
Cons: Did not work with my Ooma box VOIP phone system. I wanted an easy way to move my Ooma box without running a LAN cable through my home. I was able to do this with the Powerline adapters, and I could make and receive phone calls, but the sound was is garbled that it was completely useless.
Summary: If I had any hair, wife would have pulled it out due to these... Going to try a NetGear Plug in wireless extender. I'll let you know on how it goes... If you purchase these, I hope you get a good pair.
Pros: Decent setup.
Cons: Might have had a bad wall plug, but was just a serious pain trying to get setup and keep connection(s). Have used powerline adapters before so I thought I'd try these (that were on clearance which should have been a warning in itself lol). Glad Newegg has a good RMA/Return policy.
All Zyxel Homeplug prodcuts will work during warranty only (with RMA)
Don B., Newegg
20 September 2012
Summary: Buy another brand. Netgear has lousy tech support for consumer products and I never needed to call Monster. The following Zyxel products failed: PLA-400 kit (both) PLA-470 (two failed 1.5 months after warranty expiration) PLA-491 (RMA'd twice last failed 6 months after RMA, but after warranty...
Pros: Price. Found Monster Powernet 300 to be most reliable, but have no software utilities or diagnostic software. Never needed with the Powernet needed with Netgear and Zyxel products. Still would be nice to have option to set up QOS and manually set up encryption with Monster.
Cons: I have had five Homeplug AV products from Zyxel. Every one of them failed within warranty and the RMA'd products also failed within a year of the warranty expiration.
ZyXEL flash upgrade program says I have a counterfeit item
A. Chase Turner, Amazon
2 April 2012
Summary: I purchased these items in 2010. About 6 months ago, they stopped working. I went to ZyXEL web site to download a firmware updater. Firmware updater found the devices, but said they were not genuine ZyXEL devices. Very disappointed.
Summary: Performance degradation = No data transferred
Pros: Pros: I saved the original box, so I can return it!
Cons: Preface: I have over ten years networking experience. As other reviewers mentioned, here and elsewhere, this product does not work in newer homes, at least not mine. The LEDs will show connectivity, but zero data is transmitted. Resetting the devices doesn’t work either; I tried over a dozen time...
Summary: I do have a Zyxel router that I have had no issues.
Cons: This is a follow up to my review on 9/29/2011. I guess the only way to get tech support is to post on newegg. I have written Tony Macias twice and received no response. Also note that the support personnel don't seem to take the time to read the full reviews - he directed me to the same link I po...
Summary: For more info on the AFCI circuits: http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/lanwan/lanwan-basics/31238-slow-homeplug-five-ways-to-boost-powerline-network-speed?start=1
Pros: It could work, but not on my new homes circuit.
Cons: Nowhere in any of the technical information is the issue with AFCI circuits discussed. AFCI circuits are required in all new homes in the U.S., and depending on the model of circuit breaker, your homeplug is worthless. You would think this information would be readily mentioned in the details of ...
