Summary: You're probably better off buying something like this than one of the really cheap adapters, as I doubt they would have the same longevity.
Pros: I picked up a couple of these so I could get rid of some cables runs and have a backup in case a NIC ever died on me. The installation was very easy and the ZyXEL drivers installed no problem on both Vista and Windows 7. Transfer speeds are fine, nothing that will blow you away as the standard is...
Cons: The size of the adapter wouldn't be idea if you want to leave it plugged in to a laptop all the time as it sticks out just enough to be a pain. This isn't really a problem though as they include a short USB extender that you can use.
Pros: only paid $10 on sale. got it for my wife's computer so she could disconnect from the modem when her computer got moved across the room. connected it with a push from the WPS button and it was done.
Cons: Details state that this will work with mac OS X 10.3 - 10.5, it will not work with 10.3,10.4 - device is only supported for 10.5-10.7 - I know that's an old OS and probably shouldn't be used. But for a customer who wanted an easy wifi upgrade for an old pc - what a hassle!
Cons: Semi-dead on arrival. W7 can't find the driver online. Device was recognized and installed properly buy can not be enabled. Enabling... ->Disabled. Tried new drivers from Zyxel's site. Tried on 3 different PCs and one Mac. - Junk doesn't work. Support website was down 2 out of 3 times I tried acc...
Summary: For an inexpensive USB WiFi dongle it isn't a bad choice, but it does appear to have some issues which, to be fair, may or not be it's fault and may be common with other USB dongles.
Pros: Very small USB dongle, good software package if you want the extra features.
Cons: Though this is common to all USB dongles, I'm constantly afraid I'm going to reach behind the computer and snap it off. The bigger problem is that signal strength and power draw are sometimes issues. Placement in the front vs. the back of the computer can be a real issue. Also on some computers (...
Summary: Oddly using this on OS X this card is not detected as a AirPort instead in the Network Utility it shows as a Eathernet Card and you need to use the Utility and drivers on the Zyxel website to make it work the Driver CD Provided DOES NOT provice OS X Drivers the CD only has Windows Drivers.
Pros: Works on Mac OS X the entire reason i got it was to give wifi to my iMac Tray Load system i am restoring. This card is excilent on Windows 2000 until my iMac is restored i am using this on a DELL Optiplex GX260 with Windows 2000.
Cons: DOES NOT WORK WITH LINUX! if you are wanting it for that reason get something else this uses the Ralink RT2870 Chip which does not work on Linux.
