  • Summary: If this product worked more often, I would give it more eggs
  • Pros: Easy set up, plug n play When it works, it works great. Only ~1 mbps slower than a 50ft cat 6 cable
  • Cons: Speeds can go from 50 to under 1 for no apparent reason, have tried multiple outlets, even outlets less than 10ft from each other, same problem No response from customer service

Slower than WiFi

Ki L., Newegg
11 February 2015
  • Pros: They did work as expected for one set. Installation was easy. Price was good with sale.
  • Cons: It was slower then my WiFi, which beats the purpose of buying this product at first place. Out of 3 computers I tried (three different outlets), the speed varied, from 7 MB to 16 MB. But the connection dropped couple of times / hour.

Depends on Your Application

Scott D., Newegg

  • Summary: I bought these to connect a HTPC to my NAS. Wireless throughput was too low for HD, and running a cable would have been problematic. Set up was easy. Throughput, however, is very erratic, which is bad for watching movies. First, it depends a great deal on where you place the connectors.
  • Pros: - Easy set up - Good for some applications where you can't use wireless or wired
  • Cons: - Erratic throughput - Very little (ok, essentially zero) diagnostic information

  • Summary: If you plug these units into the outlets without plugging in any other appliances, you'll get a good and stable network connection. Each unit must occupy the entire outlet exclusively. Otherwise, you may get sudden slow downs or even drop outs.
  • Pros: Easy connection. Good speed for the Internet.
  • Cons: Units sometimes get quite hot. Nowhere near 500Mbps.

Easy Setup

  • Summary: After years of weak wifi signal in our home office I replaced the connection with these. They work great. It's not as fast as a direct connection between router and NIC but a whole lot faster than the wifi. I would buy them again.

  • Summary: Had high hopes for these, but unfortunately they do not work well. Connection drops often for no reason. Contacted TredNet support and you are supposed to send them this to USA... wait for weeks etc. No guarantee that replacement would work.
  • Pros: They look good, small footprint.
  • Cons: Connection drops a lot..

  • Summary: I bought one of these to replace an old Linksys powerline kit that I had for a few years, within a couple of weeks it's already defective. The adapters keep dropping connection and after running checks on my motherboard, updating the network drivers on it, updating the firmware on the adapters, it's...
  • Pros: Faster then older network solutions, convenient
  • Cons: Horribly unstable, only two pronged, flimsy material

  • Summary: I bought a pair of these so I could wire in our TV/media centre and not use wireless. Works pretty well with good speeds as the wiring between the router and TV area is pretty good. Less happy about the management software- it is Windows only and will not run using Wine.
  • Pros: Easy set-up if you use default security code, reasonably fast on good connection
  • Cons: Windows-only software, hard to manage on Mac or Linux

  • Summary: Had these for a while now and other than the annoying drop ped connection that require re-sync once in a while this product works fairly well. Please note I am using this product on the same circuit, i don't know what the performance drop would be if signals need to cross to a different circuit.
  • Pros: - easy to set up, - good value (sale 35-40 bucks)
  • Cons: - loses connection once in a while requiring re-sync
