Disappointing

Michelle V., Newegg
14 December 2014
  • Summary: Would have been nice to see it work. Always preferred wired to wireless connections. Main reason I decided to try this.
  • Pros: Hard to list considering I never got it to work
  • Cons: Really bad documentation and software wasn't helpful either. The entire quick guide and manual assumes perfect operation, provides no real trouble shooting tools or information. The guide mentions several times the importance of the encryption key and that both must match. However there is no way to confirm or change the host device. Even though to change any clients, its password must be confirmed for proper syncing of keys. According to the light patterns on the sig...

Drops connection frequently

Robert T., Newegg
25 November 2014
  • Summary: I ordered 2 sets of these because they were nice and cheap. They seem to drop the connection every 5 minutes or so. It's really annoying, I can wait for 2 minutes for the connection to come back or reach under my desk and reset it. It's really annoying, I was hoping to negate the need for a wired connection but with problems with all of the powerline adapters I've tried I think I'm just going to have to bite the bullet.
  • Pros: They work fairly well while they have a connection.
  • Cons: They drop connection every 5-10 minutes for 30 seconds to 2 minutes.

500 Mbps NOT even 50

paul k., Newegg
29 October 2014
  • Summary: First off I bought this in hopes to increase my speed to my laptop four rooms away and around the corner away from the router. during peak times these may sustain a higher speed level to my laptop but flat out testing and comparing they do not match up to my expectations or hopes, and surely not the (500) speed listed ( like any of them will:)
  • Pros: They do work, simple to install, got them on sale.
  • Cons: While these do work as a stand alone supply of internet thru the wall, I am disappointed in the speed or the lack of. 1st---laptop mentioned in other thoughts--wireless or power line or both connected or any of them separate I get 32 mb download, 5 up. same laptop next to my router--wireless is 50 mb download same 5 up. hard lined I get the same as my desktop 85 mb down and same 5 up. If I could have increased maybe 10 megs I would have been happier, but I get absolut...

seeing disconnects

David G., Newegg
13 October 2014
  • Pros: easy to set up speed seems good enough
  • Cons: I really wanted this to work, but maybe it is a solution in search of a problem. I did not have any particular problem with wifi but wanted to avoid over-using wireless bandwidth when multiple streams are going. My wifi speeds between two system were slower than wired Ethernet LAN transfers, but that is an uncommon use compared to downloading/streaming from the internet. This disconnects frequently, at least twice during any two hour netflix streamed movie through my ...

50% failure rate

John M., Newegg
9 October 2014
  • Summary: I don't have much confidence in these. I guess I will try to get the bad ones replaced, go from there, and hope for the best.
  • Pros: The units that are still working are giving good performance, so far.
  • Cons: I purchased two sets (four devices), installed both sets, and two devices failed after one day. They won't even re-initialize (after holding down reset button for 20 seconds).

50% failure rate

John M., Newegg
9 October 2014
  • Summary: I'm not feeling confident about the two remaining devices. Hope this is just a fluke. I am calling TRENDnet support right now.
  • Pros: The ones that are still working are performing well.
  • Cons: I purchased two "sets" (four devices). They worked for a day and then I came home from work to find two of the devices were no longer connected to the network, would not reconnect, are unable to be reset, etc, etc. They just appear to be dead.
