Bought this for wireless access to an already existing gigabyte network
24 April 2014
Summary: The feature are impressive, but even after (repeated) firmware re-installs for lost connectivity issues, it turns out that there's no update for it. They've killed the product so we are monkeys eyeing our footballs, folks. Stars at two. 'Waste not thine time... edited 8-20-2014 So as an access point, it drops connectivity very often, 4-5 times a day. As a router, it works very well, and never drops signal. And there you go.... raised the stars back up to four.
Summary: To begin, let me give a bit of background info. I have used and setup numerous wireless routers/modem/switches and I am, unfortunately, a labeled geek. But this is my first wireless N router that I use myself so comparisons to other N routers is a bit moot here. I did do research about this particular router before making the purchase and it's a great balance between functions and cost.
Summary: The prior reviews on this router pretty much cover everything already, so I'll just add that after nearly two years of service this thing has been nearly bulletproof. I bought this as a replacement for an aging Nexland Wavebase and have not been disappointed.
Summary: After using this unit on my home network for a few months, my wireless and wired computers could no longer see each other. It was as if the networks where 2 seperate networks unable to access each other. No settings on the unit that could explain this problem. Called Trendnet, and thier solution was to reformat and re-install ALL of my computers and server.
Summary: This is the best router I've ever dealt with. Simple user interface and lightning fast connectivity. I highly recommend this router to anyone looking to employ wireless repeaters. I had 3 of these bad boys running on one network and the coverage was phenomenal.
Summary: I've used two of these routers--one at home and one at my office. Set up was fairly easy with or without the CD set-up disk, the security features/firewall are excellent, the range of signal is very good, and I've never had a "dropped connection" since I've owned this router. TRENDnet got this one right!!
