Good

John C., Newegg

  • Summary: Other than a minor issue with the software. I'm satisfied with the adapter.
  • Pros: Connects at the advertised speed of 300Mbps, but varies at times. When the speed drops, it doesn't drop below 144.5Mbps, but I don't mind. It's better than 54Mbps. Good price provided by newegg.
  • Cons: I found the software to be buggy. For instance the TRENDnet wireless configuration utility, installed on Windows XP doesn't always launch on startup. So you have to manually start it up and creates and empty space on your system tray. I don't recommend you use the new software that has been placed on TRENDnet site which is TEW-624UBvD1.02 it will not run properly on your Win XP machine. It is full of bugs. Keep using the drivers/software that is provided on the CD ins...

TRENDnet TEW-624UB Wireless N USB Adapter Review

hardwarebistro.com
25 January 2012
  • Conclusion: Wireless USB adapter is a great device especially when it is equipped with latest technology and fastest speed; 802.11n. TRENDnet TEW-624UB fulfills all these requirements but does anyone really need such device then it will be another question. This is because most of the notebooks are already integrated with wireless device so such wireless USB adapter is only useful for desktop system or replacement/upgrade on sustaining notebook's wireless device.
  • Pros: * Greater flexibility for desktop wireless card, * 802.11n with 300Mbps throughput, * 3-year warranty, * Bonus McAfee Proven Security
  • Cons: * Low demand, * Expensive

Not Too Shabby

James S., Newegg
25 November 2009
  • Summary: Other than the signal strength loss of having the computer in the same room as my primary system it works out pretty well. Still don't know wth is going on with that though.
  • Pros: Pretty decent little adapter a little warm to the touch but otherwise pretty good.
  • Cons: Only Con I have with this thing is everytime its near my Wireless Networking Card for my Primary Computer, I lose about 50% Integrity / Signal Strength which ticks me off. Guess my Linksys Card doesnt like the TrendNet Adapter much, cause my laptop doesn't give me issues with the Rosewill Adapter. So Dont know what's going on there.

Pretty good adapter

  • Summary: I use a Trendnet Range extender, and I am getting pretty consistent 270MB/s out of the rated 300MB/s. The extender is on the same floor, so I guess I was expecting perfection. This is being used to stream video (Neflix, etc.) to my bedroom PC, so I can't really deal with a flaky connection.

Good

Eric A., Newegg
31 January 2008
  • Summary: DO NOT INSTALL DRIVERS FROM CD, and KEEP THE CD OUT OF YOUR DRIVE! Install the latest drivers directly from Trendnet, and when windows asks to install the device, choose specify location and point it to your unzipped drivers, and uncheck the check to find the drivers via removable media.
  • Pros: Fast speeds and signals. I now get my full internet speed over my wireless network thanks to this adapter. Great Wireless N adapter. Nice driver interface!
  • Cons: Make sure you install the drivers found at TrendNet.com, as the ones on the CD are terrible and cause the adapter to lose connection randomly. Hard to install.
