New life to old router

William S., Newegg
29 December 2014
  • Summary: I was trying to push my wireless signal to a detached garage space where the signal was spotty at best. The standard antennas on my router (an older TP-Link supporting wireless G) were having problems cutting through the walls. I relocated the router in the house a bit, and slapped these guys on. Problem solved.
  • Pros: Easy to install - screw the old ones off; put the new ones on. Less expensive than a new router (that may or may not offer better range).
  • Cons: They are large/long, but it's not that big of a deal.

Well made

Anonymous, Newegg
12 September 2014
  • Summary: These antennas look cool! But other than that no actual benefit when it comes to wireless range. Purchased mostly for the looks.
  • Pros: Excellent build quality! Way better than the cheap Super Power Supply antennas, straight and sturdy
  • Cons: No signal improvement compared to the stock antennas on (my now longer working) Netgear R7000.

Long, high gain antenna

Allen I., Newegg
26 June 2014
  • Summary: This antenna works for me. I have it attached to an old wireless G card (no N or AC here). I had cannibalized a 5 db antenna from another newer card, which was good, but wanted a stronger signal since my router is at the opposite end of the house. If you're coming from one of the stubby little 3 inch antennae, this will be an improvement. If you already have a 5-6 inch antenna, this may not get you much more signal.
  • Pros: -Works at least as well as the 5 db antenna I was using before, if not better -Simple to use--just screw it onto your existing wireless card/router -Reliable
  • Cons: -Does not provide a huge jump in signal strength (no clear advantage over 5 db antennae) -Rather long, so sticks out -No major signal fluctuation (very stable connection).

  • Summary: I bought 3 of these antennas to attach to my TP-Link router. There's a small improvement in signal strength when I test at a short distance from the router (1-3 meters). At a short distance it goes from -40+ dBm to -30+ dBm. The change is even smaller at a greater distance (10+ m). I expected a greater improvement going from 3 x 3 dbi antennas to 3 x 8 dbi. Good thing that I pricematched and didn't spend too much money.
  • Pros: Low price, Easy to attach
  • Cons: Tall, No big improvement
