Summary: I've got 19MBps on it, very reliable so far, but i guess it doesn't last long. So far it didn't reboot itself like the old modem I had. for 25$ you can't complain! You get more than what you pay for!
Summary: Every other review that I read failed to mention that "feels cheap" meant that the rj-45 jack was so poorly fabricated that it would stay connected to the computer it was plugged into. About 5-6 painfully frustrating unplugging and replugging of the cable (had this issue with 3 different network cables) later... it would not connect at all. So cheap it's not even worth the savings compared to a 516, and at 23$...
Pros: Price, if you get lucky
Cons: Being this cheap comes at a price, and costs have been cut a little too much, making this a piece of trash.
Summary: I bought this modem in a hurry from my local shop. Unfortunately could not wait to get it from NCIX. I was having major connection problems that started out of the blue a couple weeks back. The prior Speedstream 4200 modem would no longer hold a connection. It was constantly dropping connection, no longer able to sync up with my ISP or would say it was connected but could not get online.
Pros: -Works straight out of the box with no setup required on my Tekksavvy account., -Has not dropped connection for the past 8 days straight. Not my idea of 100% stable, but not completely dodgy either., -Works just fine in tandem with my Linksys WRT54GL router with Tomato 1.28 firmware., -Comes with RJ45 and RJ11 cables, a splitter as well as a setup disc and manual should you need these., -PRICE. Very well priced for what it offers.
Cons: -For whatever reason I am unable to log into the modem via the designated IP address to make configuration changes. Good thing it worked straight out of the box and any changes needing to be made can be done straight through my router., -Does not look anything like the above picture. Mine is wider, thinner and white in colour., -Does run a tad warm, but nothing to really complain about.
Summary: No issues at all. Pulled it out of the box, connected it, voila. 30 Seconds. I wasn't expecting it too be hard, and it delivered. I've been running it for about one week now and no issues, nothing. I'm happy with this device.
