Excerpt: It comes with a network cord so you can try to configure it by direct connection. It is only about 3 feet long, so be close. I didn't have much luck getting it to configure as a repeater with it, so decided to try to do it WiFi. It configured the first time fairly easy, but it didn't last.
Pros: had to plug it into my computer for initial set up to wireless. Once I did it worked perfectly. I saved my settings and moved it to another outlet in the house and boom it came up wirelessly and really made a difference in my range.
Excerpt: The product is just okay. When it works, it works great. But it looses signal often. Frequently my iPAD tells me I have no wifi. Then I have to plug and re-plug it into the wall outlet to regain wireless signal. This happens even when it's hardwired to a router.
Summary: In repeater mode, the unit can extend the range of the WiFi network, but it repeats on the same channel as the AP. if too close to the AP, it may degrade performance. at least it did in our case where we were trying to extended between floors.
