Summary: Used for about a month now and I'm experiencing good line speed. Watched a full movie in 1080p from Vudu with no issues. I have had to hit the reset button a few times after it goes into sleep mode from not being used. The LED lights will always "wake up" but the actual connection sometimes has to be reset. Line speed can vary greatly from outlet to outlet so your mileage can vary. The sleep mode issue is the only thing preventing 5 stars.
Works very well, but not a major upgrade over the AV 200 line.

Summary: I live in a two story home built in 2005 that I purchased in 2009 from the original owners. One would have thought that the dumbf#$@! who built my subdivision would have included Cat5 cabling in the walls as a standard feature of the early 21st century, but they would be mistaken. Upon moving in, I purchased some excellent Netgear AV-200 Powerline products so that I could use the standard electrical cabling in my walls to pass information as well.
Summary: I bought this to stream video to a HTPC and BD player. Set up was extremely easy and painless and it worked the first time, no messing around with settings or hard to understand adjustments. Throughput is much better than my previous wireless N and HDTV now streams without a problem or undue buffering. Only problem is that occasionally, when not in use, it will lose connection and I'll have to unplug it and plug it back in to reset.
Summary: Powerline networking works fine and the Netgear adapters are fine products. However, so far the AV 500 adapters do not perform any better than the AV 200 adapters I had in place before I ordered the 500's. With either I get about 120Mbit between the same plugs. Just as a warning. Don't think that you are going to increase your bandwidth by going to the higher speed adapter.
Summary: I bought this for our home theater system to serve an HTPC & Xbox 360 in our living room. Much better connection than the previous wireless-N. I can stream in HD and there's no lag or buffer issues. Backing up the HTPC to my NAS is much faster as well. Installation was a breeze including the firmware update. I would certainly recommend this, especially for those suffering from wireless lag, weak signal, etc. Only con I can think of is the price...
Summary: Väldigt lättanvända, koppla bara in och kör!
