Summary: I have owned this router for several years now. It has great range in my two story home and I haven't encountered any problems whatsoever. The few times I have had to contact Netgear customer support they have been extremely helpful. My experience with this router has not included anything similar to the negative experiences others have shared in their reviews of this router. I replaced the power adapter once (that was inexpensive).
Summary: This product is a victim of improper labeling. It really is a replacement wireless router which sits between the cable or fios router and replaces the wireless. It is NOT a repeater to a range extender in the normal way. My needs were to put something that picks up the existing wireless router's signal and amplifies it. This is what I was led to believe by the product label. After a bit of work it became obvious there were problems.
Disappointed with poor signal and slow speed of this router

Summary: This model was better than last time. has switch to turn off annoying lamp. Speed is fast only with Netgear USB adaptor--slower than my Belkin router and signal strength is poorer. Easy to configure, reliable router. Ended up reinstalling my Belkin N Mimo router because it performs better. Would not buy this router again.
Terrible router, freezes and doesn't support the advertised bandwidth

Summary: I bought this router thinking it would be an upgrade to my 5 year old linksys especially since I was moving from AT&T to xfinity internet. From the onset I was the following two very aggravating problems: - The wireless would freeze intermittently and arbitrarily. The only way to get it out of this freeze mode is to reboot it. I'm having to reboot this Netgear router every 5-15 days. - does not support two simultaneous youtube videos.
Summary: It works I guess But I couldn't get it to work with my internet. I just couldn't figure out how to get it set up right and I cant find any instructions on how to set it up. Do you happen to have any instructions for Dummys you could send me? I'd like to get it to work.
Netgear WPN824 Router - Easy to Install - Works Great!
30 April 2014
Summary: Had No Problem Installing This Router As A Replacement For A Cisco/Linksys Unit it replaced and that was fried after a power surge or lightening strike. This router only included the power supply (wall wart)and no installation CD that normally comes with the unit. This was not a problem. It's not needed. Read on Internet for basic installation instructions.
Summary: This is a very good router with a strong signal. I have it on my ground floor and get good signal on the opposite side of my house in both the upstairs and basement. It was also simple to setup and I get the full rated speed from my ISP. I never tested local device to device speed to test the claimed 150 Mbps. It has excellent security protocols that are also easy to setup. I highly recommend this wireless router.
