Not good, but not terrible

Jeffrey P., Amazon
16 June 2015
  • Summary: I was hoping this would solve some problems ive been having with my current wifi adapter. It works well, except it doesnt perform at the 300mbps as advertised, only 144. My download speeds have also been cut in half compared to my original adapter, which also got 144mbps, so im not really sure why...

Does not work with Windows 8/8.1

Kindle Customer, Amazon
30 May 2015
  • Summary: Does not appear to work with Windows 8/8.1 as advertised on their site. No driver updates available to resolve issues with frequent disconnects requiring device to be removed and re-inserted into port. Seems to work fine on Windows 7, but my money was wasted.

Pass on this one

James P., Newegg
5 March 2015
  • Summary: Netgear really dropped the ball on this one. I didn't buy it through Newegg because I needed something the same day and this was the only NIC the store had that was Win 8 compatible (which also garners a "wha?").
  • Pros: Win 8.1 compatible. Portable.
  • Cons: Slow as molasses in January. How they think it gets 300Mbps is beyond me. I've never seen it go beyond 56Mbps and it typically sits in the 5-13Mbps range. Like others have said it disconnects often. It's doing it as I'm typing here (at 5.5Mbps). If it's having a good day, it'll stay connected and...

Hate it.

Matthew, Amazon
23 December 2014
  • Summary: Do not buy if you're far from modem. On a split level of the top floor, modem on bottom floor. Connection drops constantly, and there are times where I can't get on the internet for an hour or two. Hate it.

Works. Sort of

James Meyers, Amazon
6 February 2014
  • Summary: I bought this 3 days ago and the velcro pads it came with are already in the garbage (the tape side stopped functioning), and I just spent 30 minutes trying to re-install the driver because it also stopped functioning.

May be a good product but I will never know

Christian P. Mueller, Amazon
19 December 2013
  • Summary: Bought this for our bluray player so that we could access the internet over our TV set. After 2 hours on the phone with customer service, I discovered that this model is NOT compatible with blu ay players and can only be used on a computer running windows.

No advantages over built-in Wireless G

Jayster, Staples
3 October 2013
  • Excerpt: Sadly, it would seem that my neighbor living half a block away has a stronger wi-fi signal coming into my living room than I do. The house is somewhat large and the router is stationed through some doors and walls.I was hoping boasting to N Band from the internal G band in the computer would help.
  • Pros: Easy To Set Up
  • Cons: Slow Connection Speed, Speed Boast Is Minimal, Unreliable, Unreliable connection, Very Buggy

Problems with Device Recognition

EOCJOSH, Amazon
9 August 2013
  • Summary: I thought this would be a plug and play. When it arrived, I immediately plugged it into my Dish Network receiver. I did a google search and numerous sources said that the netgear wireless adapter is the only one that would work with Dish Network but the device is not recognized.

Not a very stable adapter

Steven I., Newegg
12 July 2013
  • Summary: Since having the adapter I have replaced my router, as I assumed it was the culprit of the disconnections and speed fluctuations.
  • Pros: For the price it is a good dual-band network adapter.
  • Cons: Speeds were never consistent, would fluctuate between 48mbps to 240mbps on the 2.4Ghz band. On the 5Ghz band, it would have constant 300mbps connection, but would if copying large files or during heavy gaming...the connection would drop requiring disconnecting the adapter and reconnecting it. Has...
