Summary: i purchased this to upgrade my current wireless b system to n. nowhere in the specs or on the advertisement does it say that it uses cardbus and not expresscard. i received this product, tried to put it in, didnt fit, returned it. i know the picture is of a cardbus adapter, but i didnt think of it when i ordered it. i just looked at the technical specs. amazon should really update this page to state what it is instead of just notbook adapter.
Summary: This would probably be a very good Adapter if it would work with an AMD processor, which it will not & didn't state as much in the description. I purchased the Wireless Netgear Router that this Adapter was recommended for & it's much better & easier to set up than the Lynsys i was using. I'm giving it a 4 star only because it didn't work with the AMD. It installed easily & would work for a few minutes, then freze up my Notebook.
Summary: I'm disappointed. After reading the reviews, I purchased this adapter for my Toshiba laptop. I had previously purchased a WNDR3300 router with the expectation that this adapter would extend the range of reception. My installed G wireless in the Toshiba would reach only if I left the door open to my office which is in an outbuilding 75 feet away from the router, not an option in freezing weather.
Summary: I am upgrading my wired network to Gigabit and obviously I have to upgrade my wireless network, from B/G to N since all wireless routers are now to the draft N standard. While I wait for my "SMC Barricade SMCWGBR14-N Draft 11n Wireless Router" to arrive, I bought this adapter in advance to upgrade my old HP ZX5000 laptop from B to N (XP SP3). (I checked Amazon's reviews, but bought it from my local Staples for only $49.99 - sorry Amazon!).
Summary: Found wireless card w/instructions easy to install and easy to set up. Interfaced w/my wireless router without skipping a beat and has the communication range that I expected. This is my 4th NetGear purchase over the years and I have never been disappointed.
Summary: This is the 2nd card i bought. This one performs as advertised. Typical connection speeds between 160-270 mbps over 2 walls and about 50feet to router. Make sure you have a compatible speed router. Double check as the netgear website was unclear when I bought my 1st card and I bought a WPNT511 thinking it was a newer model in error. I had to reconfigure my existing Netgear router and the tech staff took 3 tries before I figured it out on my own.
Summary: Well, I finally learned the secret of how to get the best performance from the 11n wireless router: use this interface instead of the built-in one. Now, I can connect from the family room downstairs and get the full rated speed. Before, the best I could manage using the built-in Intel interface was half that. This interface connects on two separate channels to achieve the max. Setup was easy, even on Vista.
