Excerpt: This router is pretty annoying. I currently have two computers connected to it, a desktop and a laptop, and oftentimes I have trouble trying to connect. My computer will be connected to the network, but for some reason will have, "no internet access," which doesn't really make any sense. So, I will have to walk all the way over to my router, (which is on the other side of the house, which isn't that far away. I'm just lazy...
Cons: Have had three of these. All have failed in one way oranother. Too many HW versions and Netgear does not support firmware updates for older versions. Don't be fooled and buy a used one. It might be a dud.
Summary: For the first few weeks I loved this product, it was running smooth and fast. Now it is extremely slow and failed while I was in the middle of important online buisness. The only thing I dont like about it is its slow preformance rather than that everything else is satisfactory.
Excerpt: The Netgear WGR614 router lasted about a year. It worked well enough when it was functional but I believe it should have lasted longer. It was easy to install and it connected well but it did not last long enough. a 1 year service life was insufficient. setup was fast and easy. I could get the network working right away. It was out of warranty, so I did nt call. I followed the suggestions on the web site for troubleshooting. None worked.
Summary: The slowest router in the world. This version needs to be discontinued and replaced with a version that has more speed. These routers are not worth anything, except check your mail and visit websites that you normally do with a DSL connection. Its good for survival and emergency networking. What I have found out is that it does go as fast for slow, old PC's such as the EZ2605 with only 320 Megs of RAM. If the PC had more RAM then it would work better.
