Extends an open network

CBinAM, Amazon
25 June 2015
  • Summary: The only NETGEAR router that will extend an open network (according to NETGEAR support.) When traveling I'm often in a hotel, or other public spot with wifi where getting online doesn't require a password. It requires displaying a web page and clicking to "accept the conditions" (terms of use)...

Works, but a HUGE disappointment

Amazonian, Amazon
23 June 2015
  • Summary: This is going back as a return - no question about it. Although it "works" (and was rather easy to configure), the design of this router is such that the WAN and LAN use the same wifi radio and channel, which cuts the speed approximately in HALF if you use it to share a hotel wifi connection (which...

Not the fastest connection but does exactly what I want it to do

Jonathan Schwalm, Amazon
16 June 2015
  • Summary: I have used this product for a full year now and I love it. I really like how I can connect it to a public wifi hotspot and make my own hotspot out of it. I used it for my apartment while at college and it did what I needed it to do.

Worst and most buggy of the 15 routers I have ever owned

William G Sherman, Amazon
9 May 2015
  • Summary: This is the worst router I have ever purchased (and I have purchased many, including other Netgear routers): * The connection code is buggy, and drops out frequently. * The unit itself takes 2 FULL MINUTES to restart, so you can easily burn away hours trying to resolve problems.

I am very annoyed to say the least

Anonymous, Amazon
26 April 2015
  • Summary: I have already tried a couple of times and I still cannot figure out how to get this thing setup as an extender, even after looking at all the instructions on Netgear's website! I have a Netgear router and I've gone through looking at all the settings and there is no box I can check off to extend...

Mary A Jackson, Amazon
6 April 2015
  • Summary: I ordered it march this year and it arrived on time and sooner than i thought i would. I open it and it seemed smaller on the picture but not to big in-person. It took a while to set it up, I think the software in my computer would not allow me to setup.

Product is defective

R. H. Oates III, Amazon
28 February 2015
  • Summary: I'm going to preface this by saying that I'm an engineer by profession, and also have two decades of setting up home networking devices. This product does not function. After connecting to it, the user guide says I should be greeted with a screen called "Wireless as WAN" where I will be presented...

product works until is doesnt -- support won't honor hardware warranty

R. Sullivan, Amazon
25 February 2015
  • Summary: The unit performed well for about three months. Then, it started to self-reset and return to defaults. The wifi connection will not maintain for longer than 10 minutes. Attempting to open a support ticket with Netgear results it it getting auto-closed within an hour.
