Summary: It does what it's supposed to do and greatly increases the speed of my wireless devices compared to my older wireless router. I connected it and opened the software as instructed. There was a notification that a firmware update was available.

16 February 2015
Summary: If you like your networking equipment to be eccentric, you enjoy searching online forums for support, you like your router to suddenly drop its internet connection for a long list of obscure reasons, you are a networking expert, or just a simple masochist, then the Netgear WNDR4500 Dual Band Gigabit...
Summary: smooth video streaming with multiple devices running at the same time, including a wireless tv set 100' away. improved streaming versus the netgear n600 that i had before. easy wireless set up. no problems / issues.
Summary: Bought this router in the summer of 2013. Looking in hinsight, I should have returned this router immediately as the router was already bricked on arrival. No problem. I am a former network admin so I just reinstalled the firmware on the router and it worked. And when it works, it is a fine router.

30 December 2014
Summary: I purchased the Netgear wndr4500v2 N900 in June 2014 and it is now December 2014 and my router's distance keeps decreasing. When I first purchased that router it reached outside of my home and about 100 feet radius outside my house.
Summary: Worked out of the box perfectly. Nice to have 2x my previous connection speed. The "Genie" is helpful; can see what's connected, the up/down load and can configure the additional features. Haven't tried wireless printing or the USB ports.
Best router I've ever owned out of 5 previous routers.

Summary: VERY DIsappointing! I bought this router after my previous Netgear router quit working (it stopped letting multiple ip adresses be assigned). I wanted a router that would allow my 2 iphones, 2 ipads, printer and my dvd player to all access the internet.

Summary: I have a real beef on the N900. It doesn't transfer files to the usb drive in a reasonable amount of time. I tried to transfer 40 Mbytes in a folder. It first said it would take a few minutes, then a few hours, and it gave an error message before transferring the entire folder of 20 pictures-the 40...

Summary: I recently purchased an Asus RT-N66U router which was touted as one of the best. But after several months of issues with some devices not being able to connect, (even though they had plenty of signal strength), I decided to look for something else.
