You just have to know what you're doing.

goofyextreme, Amazon

  • Summary: This card works VERY well in my old Compaq Armada 1750 (that's right, that's what I said). It gets a very good signal with my Netgear router, and has high signal quality. I ordered this wireless card for my mom, to get her connected to the internet (like she'll use it...).

  • Summary: I just purchased this card, and had it up and running in about 20 minutes! The package arrived in a Netgear box and was sealed from the factory. Instructions were clear, and easy to understand.

Good, economy wireless card.

  • Summary: The card set up easily and works well. It's a lot better than the internal card most laptops now come with. I bought the 11b to save money and it works well for the price.

Card not bad, but not the best

Stephen Nothnagel "Stephen", Amazon
15 May 2005
  • Summary: I bought this card for an old Toshiba laptop (Win98) that I got off of eBay, so I could access the DSL at home and school. I bought this card because 1)it was cheap and 2)it did not stick out of the laptop very far, which I hate about most PCMCIA wireless cards.

Excellent

  • Summary: I've had this card for almost 4 months. I use it on T-Mobile's WiFi service at Starbucks etc. It is excellent! I got it for $10.00. You can't beat that price. You'll never use the 11 mbps anyway; 802.11g etc. are overkill inless you work in an office.

Poor if you have a poor signal

Fi555Fi, Amazon
20 April 2005
  • Summary: My signal is not consistent and this card drops every 5-10 minutes. My old card was much more consistent - I upgraded to this one for speed but it has caused all kinds of problems for me (including the driver problem mentioned by others here).

Dodgy driver install, but otherwise fine

Michelle Catherine Marco "friendly neighborho..., Amazon

  • Summary: Several people have noted that Windows XP does not detect this card automatically. This is true. The trick is to install the latest drivers (from the web, not the CD), then insert the card.
