This is Junk

Glenn L., Newegg
6 May 2011
  • Summary: This worked for a few months, and then, one by one, the ethernet ports died. Now, one port works sometimes, and the 802.11 is unreliable. It's a few months out of warranty, so I'm stuck with it. Maybe use it for a paper weight, or run over it with my truck. I'm surprised Netgear would put out such a flawed product. There are so many online posts about this problem that one would think a recall is in orider. I'm also dismayed that Newegg continues to sell it.
  • Pros: None that I can think of.
  • Cons: Doesn't work.

runs hot

Anonymous, Newegg
15 January 2011
  • Summary: i wonder how many dgn2000 users have bad wired ports on their router and don't know it?
  • Pros: at first, i was impressed, pretty easy setup
  • Cons: i read the other reviews about how it was running hot, didn't pay much attention to them, bad mistake! although the lights flicker on the front panel, it means very little, the wired port on the back don't work any more, hard telling when the wired ports failed, 6 month ago i bought a wireless card for my pc thinking the lanport failed, i just relized it was a the router

It Is Hot - Literally

Anonymous, Newegg
21 November 2010
  • Summary: Don't buy it.
  • Pros: Customizable QoS Works well when it works.
  • Cons: It's too HOT! Because of heat issue (with the latest firmware), it is hot! Plus the package doesn't provide a vertical stand, it has to lie on the surface, which worsens overheating issue. Everytime it gets too hot, mostly LAN ports and occasionally wireless connection would malfunction. Although a quick restart would fix the problem temporarily, but it just happens too frequently to reach an unacceptable rate.

Ethernet ports dead < 1 year, No stand included, $100 heater.

Brett V., Newegg
23 September 2010
  • Summary: I doubt I will ever be buying another NetGear product. Tired of their overpriced cheap garbage burning out. How cheap does NetGear have to be to sell a $100 modem without a stand?
  • Pros: Wireless works great.
  • Cons: Ethernet ports totally dead after 8 - 9 months. Heating issues can be severe, and since it does not come with a stand mine had to be propped against a wall, making the presentation look terrible.
