Excerpt: I recently set up a wireless network at home and chose the Netgear DG834GT 108Mbps Wireless ADSL Modem Firewall Router. It is an incredibly simple process to set up and in no time at all, I was away.
Excerpt: Wireless! I have been using wireless internet for many years now and find it incredibly useful, having laptops rather than desktop computers and mobiles that can connect through wireless and best of my Xbox can connect through wireless. I have recently moved to sky and with their package got a wireless Samsung router which I thought looked pretty stylish. The router came with a set of instructions for first time use, which may I point out are very easy to follow.
Excerpt: This was my first purchase as a tech newbie, and I decided to put my trust in a brand with a good reputation. I conducted extensive research into routers, and found that as our internet was supplied through orange (formerly wanadoo) I would need to purchase a modem/router which had ADSL capabilities. Upon opening the box there were a few bundled items to help get you all set up with your internet connection.
Excerpt: I originally bought this modem router to enable the sharing of my internet connection and to do it wirelessly. ********************* What does it come with? ********************* In the box you get: the router, an aerial/antenna, Ethernet cable, RJ45 connecter cable, ADSL filter and a power adapter plus some instructions. *********************** What security does it have?
Excerpt: For the record I am a technical person so for me some of what I needed to do wasn't all that much of a chore but I hope this all helps you with your purchase. I have BT Total Broadband and I live close enough to my local exchange to get the 8mbit service. I previously connected with a BT Voyager router and had no problems, so one day I decide to go wireless and put my faith in a trusted brand such as Netgear.
Excerpt: This was my first wireless router and i have to say i found it all a bit confusing with all the different types of router out there ones with modems ones without, adsl, cable etc etc. This router is for people who get their internet access through their phoneline and not from telewest or ntl. It has a built in modem and comes with a usb wireless adaptor so it has everything you need.
Excerpt: I have experienced nothing but problems with my unit. Even after upgrading to the latest firmware, it regularly requires reboots. Wireless connection is not reliable. I ask myself why I bothered wasting all the extra expense on 108Mb which doesnt work, when I could have bought a reliable cheaper alternative, or chosen a 54Mb one. If you want a reliable connection, dont bother buying a NetGear one!
