Summary: I have seen various complaints on other sites about this product. First - if you're installing on Windows 8 (as I did), you have to download a new installation package because what comes with it isn't up to date. Not a big issue once I figured that out. Second - some say that the connectivity drops out. You have to toggle the advanced setting to not allow the computer to shut it down (sleep mode). I installed this in a desktop on AC so battery life/power is not an issue.
USB 2.0 speeds? some of these reviews are misleading

Summary: First off getting 802.11ac router/adapter won't affect your actual internet speeds much since your ISP is only giving you say 35down/10up for high speeds that's Mbps; theoretical speeds for AC is in the 1.3 Gbps. Your modern 2.4 and/or 5GHz routers are capable of your ISP speeds. People who have issues on the 2.4GHz might have to look at number of routers in their area on similar channels as that will affect their speeds.
Summary: Just purchased a new wireless AC router and needed a new adapter to use for my office. I saw this one and was shocked at the prices. Crazilla had the best deal I could find. It came in on time, install was easy and works great. Even at 200 feet from the router I get great speeds.
Summary: I currently have the Netgear Nighthawk R7000 router. Prior to this purchase, I was stuck trying to use a Netgear WNDA3100 adapter (after failing with the horrendous Asus PCE-AC68) to connect via 5GHz but my signal strength was -52dBm and it exhibited erratic connectivity so I went with a Dlink dir632 with dd-wrt for repeater bridge and it worked well on 2.4 but I wanted 5GHz AC so I took a shot on this adapter and am glad I did.
Summary: I used this on a computer in the basement of a home. The wireless router is located on the main level. The signal strength was very good considering the distance from the router. The set up took just a few minutes with nothing to do but watch the CD load. Could not have been simpler.
Summary: I went to the store to buy an internal card only to find that the external USB device was so inexpensive. I bought it with some reluctance as I thought it would "disconnect" every time the machine went down or to sleep and this was for my 10 year olds school machine. I installed as directions indicated and haven't had to give it a second glance since. He plays several graphics intense games on the machine too and says it's great.
Summary: This product is both inexpensive and easy to use. Brought it home, opened the box and was online in less than 5 minutes. Doesn't get much easier than that. Would definitely recommend to anyone, especially those who need something user friendly!
