Summary: This thing is terrible. I bought it after I bought my Netgear Nighthawk router to help speed up my basement computer. I'd been better off buying a wifi extender instead, then I wouldn't have had to use up a USB port as well, just use the internal adapter instead.
Works great once it's connected but you have to replug it in each time.

Summary: I bought this refurbished adapter because I wanted to take advantage of the AC1200 speeds it promised. Since I am using it on a desktop, I also wanted the USB extension cable it came with. My results have been mixed. Once it's connected, it's very stable and offers good speeds.
Thumbs Up for the Hardware, Thumbs Down for Netgear Support

Summary: Given that the 802.11AC standard is faster than USB 2.0, and it is compatible with Windows 7 but not Windows 8, I would give it 5 stars. I have several Win 7 boxes with USB 2.0 and it does everything I need.
Refurbished but works like new. Better than my old adapter.

Summary: I have Windows 8.1 and had heard that people have a hard time getting this to work with Windows 8.1. However, I didn't have any problems. I didn't use the install CD but I downloaded Software Version 184.108.40.206-1 (Supports Win8.1) from the Netgear website.
Summary: Upside: product works great for connecting to all speeds of internet. It functions exactly as described on the website. Downside: unless you're the type of person who never moves their laptop from their desk, the attachment will snap off at the slightest provocation (ex: setting it down on my bed).
