Summary: I was tired of using off-the-shelf-one-year-working Modem Routers. Unfortunately, the device provided by Sky is just horrid, and I wanted to finally buy something that will serve as a wifi and hard-wire router (modem varies depending on your neighborhood's available network, or which company you use. I also was supposed to move countries and didn't know the broadband options there).
Summary: Lots of opinions and varying needs for home networks these days... I am one of those sad demanding tech heads, in IT for two decades, I have wired cat6 ethernet and streaming media in every room in my home network. I rate this modem router highly, I like that its very basic, even spartan with no frills or fancy software. The interface isn't flashy and doesn't have any unique features but what it does it does efficiently and reliably.
Linksys X3000 Advanced Wireless N ADSL2 with Modem Router

Summary: Brilliant router, very easy setup unlike the new TP-Link TD-W8960N I bought and could not set up, waste off money. But this Linksys is the bees knees, set up and into the net in minutes, really, minutes, no going into 192.168.1.1, its all done by the software. What a fantastic difference, I much prefer this method, best router I have installed. There is virtually nothing in the user guide, but that's because you don't need anything, the router does it all.
Summary: After having problems with sharing media from large (1TB) hard drives on high end Netgear routers I bought one if these for £60. Amazing. So stable on my ADSL2+ connection, syncing at 18819kbps. It NEVER drops the connection and wireless is as good as anything I've ever used. Parental controls are strong too.
Summary: I bought this to replace my old Orange (ISP) LiveBox. I have had quite a bit of experience with Cisco kit over the years and part of my buying decision was based on that. I run an iMac 27 with a virtual Windows 7 environment as well as PC's, iPhones, Kindle, iPad and Nexus 7 devices. The set-up CD installation was very easy and I pretty much took the default UK settings. Make sure you have your ISP user details beforehand though. So far it has performed perfectly.
Summary: I have to say that this modem router is without doubt the easiest router I have ever set up. I did not purchase this from Amazon - but found a better deal (unusual for me). Lovely neat design and like I said - for someone with limited computer knowledge - a doddle to set up.
Cisco X3000 Excellent Product Works Exactly As It Should

Summary: Well I had to buy a new router to replace a Belkin which I could not bring back to life after attempting to update firmware. Finding the right replacement was not easy. I am using Talktalk ISP and watch BBC iPlayer HD via ethernet and also stream music to wifi internet radios around the house from a portable hard drive directly connected via USB to the router.
