Summary: This product arrived defective. After a few hours on the phone with the tech guy at Linksys is became clear that the product was completely unusable as it arrived to me. It never worked properly at all. To add insult to injury their return policy was strict enough to prevent my return of this nonfunctional piece if equipment. Avoid this seller.
Summary: What a waste of money, even after installing the latest firmware and endless hours of fine-tuning the WiFi channel and physical location, this piece of c... keeps continuously dropping the connection, even the cheap phone company router is more reliable; I would return it right away if I were in the States. I used to like Linksys/Cisco equipment, but looks like quality has dropped. Don't bother with this unit and keep looking.
Summary: Purchased this Prime and had it delivered the next day. The first problem I had was that the CD it comes with runs of ancient operating systems (speaking from a Mac OS point of view). So I had to call and set everything up via phone call. So we tried that, and to Linksys' credit, everyone we talked to was very polite and friendly. Unfortunately that doesn't fix the problem.
Summary: Purchased May 2013 to replace an ATT 2 wire modem. Had misgivings about this product since there almost as many one star as five star reviews for it. Set up was easy and it initially worked well. Then dropped connections began, becoming more frequent over time. I finally gave up on it last night and went back to the old 2 wire. Believe the one star reviews for this product.
Excerpt: This router worked correctly for about 6 months. Now it must be hard restarted twice a day at a minimum. Access to updates is virtually impossible for those lacking a degree. Have tried calling for help and can only get help for $40 a phone call.
Excerpt: Apparently, Cisco Lynksys X2000 Wi-Fi modem is incompatible with Lion & Mountain Lion OS. Could not down-load firmware update from Linksys to get X2000 recognised by iMac, so data from Verizon DSL modem would not go through. Wasted 10 hours of my time with Verizon, Cisco & Apple tech assist and customer service. Apple tech assist was absolutely superb help, but, still nothing worked.
Cons: Difficult To Set Up, Incompatible With Mac Os
Summary: Spent over four hours with loosy tech support before first unit deemed defective. Kept dropping like a hot tomato, would be great if we got 15 minutes of uninterrupted service connection. Now onto replacement unit and on hour two with tech support. Ready to throw in the trash heap. One crappy ass product and tech support.
Summary: Do not buy this item. It worked all of 3 months only. When I contacted the company, they requested that I pay them $59.99 in order for them to reconfigure modem so I can use it. Not reliable at all. Wasted money.
Summary: Never left a review before, but this situation angered me enough to leave one. I ordered this modem/router after my AT&T router failed. When it came in, I ran the set up but never could establish a permanent connection. It would connect and then drop repeatedly. Over several days through many contacts with AT&T, then Linksys - who sent me back to AT&T - who sent me back to Linksys and so on, I never could get the Linksys to work all the time - only 5-10 seconds.
