good, when it works

Anonymous "private", Amazon
8 August 2009
  • Summary: The Good - Extension cord comes with it so you can position device for best reception possible. Ive seen pretty high transfer speeds. the bad - overheats/overloads quite easily. If you run a torrent program for instance and get too many connections.. it just overloads and loses connection. I find myself unplugging the device and replugging it in to have it re-detect the wireless signal quite often....even just regular web browsing.

Vista-64 Support?

David M. Coleman, Amazon
16 January 2009
  • Summary: I bought the WUSB300N for an XP-32-bit notebook but first decided to test it on my Vista-64-bit desktop, but I couldn't locate a driver, either included or at Linksys site. This irritated me because I didn't see any 64-bit restrictions listed on the box or marketing material from Linksys. I then tried testing on an XP-32 bit system. Linksys seems desperate for us to run their monitor, so I followed their instructions and installed it first, before connecting the adapter.

Messes up sound

Anonymous, Newegg
27 June 2008
  • Pros: Super Super Fast. Easy to setup and config... like other Linksys stuff.
  • Cons: Makes my sound skip. I have a Asus p5n32e sly mobo. I use the integrated sound. Totally kills my music. Unless I find a fix, I'll have to go back to my G wireless.

unstable

Anonymous, Newegg
2 June 2008
  • Summary: I spent several hours with tech support at linksys changed every setting nothing seemed to clear the problem. I purchased 2 of these and i am holding off on selling or returning them in hopes that a driver will fix the issues
  • Pros: Fast connection, good range, easy to install
  • Cons: randomly freezes, or looses connection when a large number of connections are made, or a large amount of data. Streaming video wirelessly from one computer to one that is wired is impossible.

Did not work

Marie M., Newegg
24 April 2008
  • Summary: Anything that Linksys has made for b/g wireless routing seems to work really well but I also used to own a Linksys Wireless N Draft Router and that router would constantly, about every hour or so, need to be reset. I would have 5 computers connected to it wirelessly at a time and they all would lose connection so I know it wasn't just an adapter either.
  • Pros: When it works, it connects far away from my wireless N draft router and gets a very good connection.
  • Cons: Drops the signal constantly. Only way to fix this is to disable the wireless connection and re-enable it again. It drops the connection about every 10 to 20 minutes. I am returning mine and am going to get a USB wireless N adapter from a different company because I know others work, just this one doesn't.

  • Summary: Waiting for RMA replacement. I have high hopes for this item.
  • Pros: It worked really well when I first installed it. Can see all the different networks in my neighborhood, connected at up to 300.
  • Cons: It died the next day.

Super Fast (for the 1/2 hour it works before stalling)

Amazon Fan "AF", Amazon
31 December 2007
  • Summary: I bought this over a week ago and it has been nothing but trouble. The connection frequently gets dropped requiring the user to reset the card and/or reset the router. I also have the Linksys-N router so it's not an issue of incompatable products. The included "monitoring" software is of no help because it reports the connection is active and strong when there is no connection!
