Appeared to Be Used

Glenn G., Newegg
4 October 2013
  • Summary: This item was sold thru Newegg but came from a 3rd party vendor. This is the Second Straight router I have received from Newegg that was DoA and shipped thru a 3rd party vendor. Returning for a refund and will buy next router locally.
  • Pros: Hard to tell....Item was DoA
  • Cons: Item was DoA and appeared to be used. The box it came in wasn't shrink wrapped and very beat up. It also took over 2 weeks to be delivered.

Cheap, feature-rich router. Great bang for the buck.

felipefol, Ebay
3 August 2012
  • Summary: I bought this router (WRT54GS v3) with the intention of flashing an open OS on it, like Tomato or DD-WRT. The 3rd version of WRT54GS is ideal for that, because it has a lot of flash memory (8MB) as opposed to the later versions, which allows me to cram as many features in as I need. When flashing a custom OS, the feature set is fully customizable, and includes such advanced features as VPN tunneling, individual bandwidth metering and virtual LAN.

DD-WRT mega compatible. Check router version to make sure!

  • Summary: Great router. Flash it with dd-wrt mega to make a $30 router function like a $150 router! Vey simple to use, and the antennas can be swapped out for high gains for added range.

Stay away from this router

Walmart
15 June 2010
  • Summary: This router is a piece of junk. I have had this product for approximately 6 months and I am on the phone with support all of the time for hours at a time. It will work fine for a few hours and then I will lose internet connection. 2X it did something so my IP address was no longer recognized and I had to call support to have them correct the problem only to have it happen again.

Awesome!

Jonathan P., Newegg
22 January 2009
  • Summary: Why would you waste your time buying the other model that doesn't have SpeedBooster? Seems awfully foolish to me. It probably only helps a negligible amount but its the principle off the thing!
  • Pros: I've been working with computers for 25 years and have used many different makes and models of routers and this model has been the best. I set it up around three years ago and have not touched it since. It has given me absolutely no problems whatsoever. You cannot beat that!
  • Cons: none at all

Great Router

Robert W., Newegg
27 December 2008
  • Summary: The firmware that come with it is ok, you might want to consider putting a Linux firmware on the device. For the average user this product is great.
  • Pros: Great router especially for the money. Does what it's supposed to do without lots of frills. Didn't take me long to set up and for the average person it shouldn't either.
  • Cons: The software CD that came with it was trash. It never detected my router. It was much easier and faster to just manual set it up. Takes less than 5 minutes.

Basic Router

Anthony S., Newegg
17 December 2008
  • Summary: Good basic product.
  • Pros: Only had to reset it twice in 2 months. Easy instructions for setup. This is my first wi-fi router.
  • Cons: After trying to use the software in the package on my Vista laptop, I decided the best option was an uninstall. I use the standard Windows connection wizard and it works like a charm. Full signal all over my small house. 5 eggs if the software wasn't junk.
