Excerpt: the linksys wireless router is a great router as far as home use speed is concerned, there is a few downfalls to this router though, the installation of this router is kind of difficult to set up between the router and the computer, and its wireless range is not very far, drops bars very fast as you walk away from it.
Excerpt: my mom has one and set up is so confusing if you don't know what you are doing, not only that but the cord is so short that it constantly falls over! talking to the customer service is a joke too none of them speak english! my mom had hers for a week and it fell apart wires were hanging out everywhere she bought a new one and it happend again so she switched to something else thank god because i hated that thing it drove me nuts dont buy it its cheap but trust me dealing...
Excerpt: I am not a huge fan of this router. My internet often disconnects and cannot locate an available network. It becomes especially difficult to maintain a wi-fi connection if someone lives in a house with many floors. It is fairly priced, and not that difficult to set up. You just need to create a password and include which computers you want to have access to the wifi network. Another drawback is that the router is not fast.
The Linksys WRT54Gl Router is just an expensive paperweight

Excerpt: I needed a router so i could go wireless in my home. After doing a lot of reviewing in different stores and talking to technical advisors about the Linksys Wireless Router, I decided i would buy it. Man what a mistake i made there. I went through a couple of power outages and each time i could not use the internet until i talked to a foreign person on the phone. This person could barely even speak english.
Excerpt: I bought the Linksys WRT54GL Router a few years ago and I really hated this router. From day one it was nothing but trouble! I had to make way too many calls to customer service to get it set up. Not to mention their customer service people were less than courteous. Then I had problem after problem the entire year that I used it. It kept kicking me off and then I would have to reboot it.
Excerpt: Linksys WRT54GL Router does not work very well. I bought this Linksys router and it broke after 12 months. Their original CD that I kept would not work in the new mac, nor the new PC. When I called them for help they told me that since the warrenty was over they would not help me. In order for them to help me they would charge me for around 60 dollars, and I was not willing to pay for that. After 14 months the router just does not turn on.
Summary: With this product you are paying for the name, but it does what it says. This is a standard router not really made for gaming nor streaming. It is made for basic connection to the internet and to surf the web. If you want a router for gaming and such your going to pay a little more for it and also read the box it will tell you that it can handle gaming. As for someone putting down cisco they really have no idea what they are talking about.
Summary: I've purchased this device in September of 2009 and has been working flawlessly ever since. A few days ago the wifi chip in it died and had to call linksys in India, the rep spent 2h flashing the firmware 5 times and asking me to keep modem and router unplugged from power for 5 min each time he wanted me to grab a new ip address. He gave up after i told him i had to go to work and that i don't how will it help by flashing the firmware more than 3 times.
Pros: Good stable router if you throw Tomato or other 3rd party firmware
Cons: Broke after 8 months, Linksys' tech support is a pain to deal with
Summary: this model is the WRT54GL-EU Not obvious at first since this is not in the title. It does state this in the description and that seems to assume that you will know that means it will not be supplied with a UK 3-pin plug. I bought this item and did not see the -EU part. I know that this would be a great router, but I have rated this item low simply because I was supplied the a non UK plug despite buying the item from the UK site.
