The Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router is really three devices in one box. First, there’s the Wireless Access Point, which lets you connect both screaming fast Wireless-G (802.11g at 54Mbps) and Wireless-B (802.11b at 11Mbps) devices to the network. There’s also a built-in 4-port full-duplex 10/100 Switch to connect your wired-Ethernet devices together. Connect four PCs directly, or attach more hubs and switches to create as big a network as you need. Finally, the…

The WRT54G2 Internet-sharing Router features 4-port Switch, and Wireless-G (802.11g) Access Point. It shares a single Internet connection and other resources with Ethernet wired and Wireless-G/-B devices. The router connects computers in a network with the Internet, enabling communication, sharing resources and files, as well as printing on a shared printer. The Wi-Fi Protected Setup allows users to configure wireless devices with a push the button on the router. Other Wi-Fi Protected Setup-enabled wireless device then automatically creates WPA2 connection that protects data and privacy with up to 256-bit industrial-strength encryption. The Router serves as a DHCP Server, has SPI firewall to protect PCs against intruders and Internet attacks, supports VPN pass-through, and can be configured to filter internal users’ access to the Internet.
Linksys has launched a new wireless-G broadband router aimed at consumers, the WRT54G2, the successor to the Cisco WRT54G.
Featuring a new "sleek" design that the comapny hopes will mean folk will want to "proudly display" alongside other consumer tech, the router has an internal antenna.
The WRT54G2 ships with the Linksys EasyLink Advisor application, a simple-to-use software package designed to take away the technical hassle of setting up a wireless network.
Security can be configured with one button on the WRT54G2 thanks to the WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) feature that sees users push the WPS button on the router and on another WPS-enabled wireless device to create an encrypted wireless connection between them.

The competing 802.11a standard offers up to 54Mb/s, but apart from some dual standard supporting hardware, it has not received the support expected thanks to the prominence of 802.11b and general lack of interoperability between the two. After having 2 Linksys and numerous problems in which Customer Service gave me NONE I purchased an AT&T wireless and DSL box. Speed better and customer service is better though still not great. There is no such thing as Customer Service any more. Companies have forgotten that Customer Satisfaction is #1. Can't feel too sorry for them when they have money problems--they deserve it. I got this to replace my old Linksys WRT54G. I customized that router with dd-wrt.com firmware and it was great, but only after serving its purposes for years, it's getting unstable and problems with leasing dhcp, so I decided to get a new one. I was looking for Linksys line, so WRT54G2 caught my sight. It's so cool, so I bought one for $39.99 from local fry's. Setup wasn't too complicated, almost as exactly the same as setup my old WRT54G before the customized firmware.... Read more
