Nitetrain, Walmart
22 September 2008
  • Summary: My son bought one at Wal-Mart and we both use it. Set up not easy. Instructions are hard to follow. For some reason where it says to hook up the USB cable was displayed on the bottom right hand of the screen instead of in the middle of the page. Its very easy to miss. This made the set up take longer because I missed it three times. The wireless drops the signal once a day, some times more. It takes one minute to reset, instead of 10 sec. as in the directions.

Great router made fair by halving ram & flash memory

Sean G., Newegg
25 June 2008
  • Pros: Cheap router, fairly fast.
  • Cons: The new ones (version 4) come with half the RAM & half the flash memory of the old ones. That makes this the same as a WRT54G now, the "S" is meaningless in the new ones. This is a problem if you're using alternate firmware, or putting it under a heavy load - such as VoIP or bittorrent. Under either of these situations, the router may lock up, drop signals, and throughput will fall.

  • Summary: Router works good, but cannot turn security on. Stumped Tech's on online support. After talking to First person, they told me now it will work. NO LUCK. Second person tried to get the security turned on and put me on hold to speak to his supervisor. Came back and said problem was on my computer. The DELL computer is only 3 Weeks old. I said OK, Whatever, I will call them back. Have not done that yet. To Busy enjoying the wireless capability.

  • Summary: This product is good for home use once it is set up. Set up in theory is easy however it took over an hour on the phone with technical support to get it working they said it needed an update the day I bought it and even after the update I had to go in and make some changes myself to get it working good. Works great now and has good signal strength.. be prepared to go in and change a few settings manually to make it work the best.

Not that great

Jon S., Newegg
6 August 2007
  • Pros: it does what is advertised on the box. great router if you are in to plug and play, and don't care about firmware flashing, removable antennas, or other features that made the older wrt54g cool.
  • Cons: Non-flashable after revision 5, and this one is revision 8. It also doesn't have removable antennas, which is a huge irritation. You can't flash it to boost power, you can't change antennas to improve gain. Overall, hugely dissapointed in the crippling of this once great product.

Nice router - WRT54GL better though

Pierre M., Newegg
17 December 2006
  • Pros: Low price. Well built.
  • Cons: You really want the WRT54GL version, the non trimmed down version of the WRT54G. This version has only 2MB of memory and it's not very simple to install a 3rd party firmware. Again spend the extra 10$ for the L Version

Con problemas, pero bueno!

WEOAR, MercadoLibre
13 March 2012
