Linksys WRT350N

The WRT350N is a Wireless N router from Linksys that also features a 4-port Gigabit Ethernet Switch and a Storage Link function. This high speed router, which measures 7.40 x 6.93 x 1.57 inches (W x H x D) with a weight of 1.15 pounds, can be positioned either horizontally or vertically. The standard package comes included with an Ethernet network cable and a Setup CD with Norton’s Internet Security software.

The built-in wireless Access Point function is compliant with the specifications of the draft 802.11n networking standard. A Wireless N network offers up to 12 times the speed and 4 times the range of an 802.11g network. The increased performance in speed and range is ideal for sharing a high speed Internet connection and for sharing large files such as music, video and photos over a local network. 802.11n is also backwards compatible with 802.11g and 802.11b devices.

The Linksys WRT350N offers a 4-port full-duplex 10/100/1000 Ethernet Switch. Each of the 4 Gigabit Ethernet ports feature support for auto-crossover (MDI/MDI-X), doing away with the need for crossover cables.

The Storage Link feature allows the user to connect a USB storage device and have it function as a Network Attached Storage (NAS). By simply connecting a flash or hard drive-based storage device to the WRT350N’s USB 2.0 port, the user can share the drive’s contents with the local network as well as access it over the Internet. And with a built-in Media Server, music, video, and photos stored on the drive can be streamed to any UPnP compatible device.

For security, the Linksys WRT350N provides a Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI) firewall with WEP, WPA and WPA 2 encryption and support for VPN pass-through.
