It works

Bob Watts "Bob Watts", Amazon
14 January 2012
  • Summary: I struggled with the decision of which range extender to purchase. This one was not too expensive but had mixed reviews. I own several pieces of Linksys equipment so I figured I could get it to work. The set up wasn't difficult, but you need to do it near your wireless router.

Excellent product works really good!!

Antonio Noriega, Amazon
11 January 2012
  • Summary: The configuration is really easy using wizard. Auto-configuration works only if the WiFi does not have protection. Really easy to configure if you don't have wireless protection or if you use WEP. Not so easy if you use WPA or WPA2.

WRE54G

ken f, Amazon
15 December 2011
  • Summary: This range expander was really tough to set up because I was using a different brand router that had other IPs. Fortunately cisco.com has excellent help instructions. I bought this unit refurbished for $100 less than new! It was so hard to set up I would have cried paying full price.

Works well, but configuration isn't straight forward

HaakDiesel, Amazon
6 June 2011
  • Summary: So, There are quite a few reviews that don't care for this range extender and I read most of them prior to ordering. Thanks to those who left detailed reviews that really helped and significantly cut down the setup time for this. Once it works, it works well.

  • Summary: I have had several of these over the last four years to extend my home network. With the first one, I spent hours and hours getting it to work. The lesson I learned is - do NOT use the setup CD. This is what I have learned.

Armed with the right information, this works exactly as it should.

Glitteraptor, Amazon
18 January 2011
  • Summary: As a refurb product, be aware this will arrive in a box with the setup CD (which I ignored), the product, and the warranty explanation. There are no user guides or quick setup charts.

Linksys WRE54G

J. Yurick "Jeff", Amazon
17 December 2010
  • Summary: Instead of connecting the WRE54G via ethernet cable to the router, connect it to a desktop or laptop that is on the network, ther wireless router must be 802.11b or g. Do your initial setup in the room where the wireless router is located.
