Summary: Had trouble installing on Win7-64 bit. On-line support was worthless -- they insisted that I must be using the wrong password for my network, even though it was failing to connect on WPS! Told me they would call back in 10 minutes with a solution, but that was two days ago and I'm still waiting.
Summary: If you can get it to work, it's pretty good. Stay away from driver updates. My OS fyi: W7U x64.
Pros: Easy to install. Good connectivity and speed when it works - both bands.
Cons: Ralink (via Windows update) pushed a driver update in Feb 2013 - when I installed the update, the 5G network was no longer accessible. Tried everything - had to roll back to previous restore point. Contacted Linksys support via chat and with all do respect, they didn't know what they were talking...
Cons: Died within 4 months. Linksys is honoring the warranty and replacing the unit - BUT - they replace it with a refurbished unit. So if this died the day I received it, that means I get a refurb replacement?? Not good.
Summary: Worked great until recently, when my PC started stuttering while watching videos or listening to music. After days of trying to figure out what was causing it, turns out it was the Wi-Fi card. Updated drivers to latest one offered by Linksys actually made the problem worse.
Pros: Easy to install, fast connection and transfer speeds... when it worked.
Cons: Would sometimes have trouble connecting to router upon booting up the PC. Although disconnecting & reconnecting the wireless connection would fix that up.
Summary: For just a little bit more money you can get wireless bridges(WET610N or WES610) I have found cards/usb never perform well except for basic internet and file transfer. I have the bridges setup with static IPs and they basically throttle as fast as your internet/network will go.
Pros: Good for basic internet and network functions.
Cons: I have 2 of these and since replaced them with wireless bridges. First this is difficult to install or should i say quirky. Sometimes the computer recognizes it. In short it can be a pain. It also can disappear where you have to pull the card restart the computer, shutdown the computer and reinst...
Summary: Bought this for a new Crosshair IV Formula rig about 1 year ago. Card would stop working every now and then (not recognized at bootup). Seemed to correlate with bumping antenna. Could be coaxed back into operation by removing power and repositioning it in PCI slot; then it was fine until next time.
Pros: Easy to install. No problems with signal strength. Worked sorta okay while it lasted.
Cons: Operation was intermittent. Had to reposition card in PCI slot every time someone bumped into anntenna. Finally stoped working. Was flaky from start and I should've have RMA'd this right away.
Summary: Overall, I think it is a great card and I loved it for years until I put it into a Win 7 Machine. Now its a pain and I will probably have to look elsewhere for networking. Wish I had shopped around a bit instead of just going with what I had a good experience with before because that obviously...
Pros: I own two of these. The first one has been in a ~4 year old computer for a few years it seems like. It was hassle-free, fast, and all around a great networking experience. I could move from my house to Visit my family back home and connect to the internet wherever I set up my computer.
Cons: However on my new Win 7 Rig it has caused quite a few problems and created far more stress than I wish. While it was initially very easy to instal and get working just as it had been on my previous computer it now made any kind of music, or gaming unbearable. It would stutter the computer making ...
Summary: Summary: - Slow speeds - 5ghz band is "iffy" - Various problems with Windows 7 - Customer service BLOWS I'm using a super cheap (paid like $10 for it) wireless gaming adapter, which allows my computer to connect to it via ethernet cable, and my connection has never been faster.
Pros: - Provides dual band
Cons: - It completely died after 2 years of use (less than 1 year after the warranty expired) - Only managed to get 7-12mbps on a good day, whereas an ethernet connection gives me 20-22mbps - The 5ghz band never seemed to work, I understand the way the 5ghz band works, but it just isn't great on this c...
