Drops internet every few minutes

Shelly L. Williamson, Amazon
11 March 2012
  • Summary: This is the worst PC product I have ever bought by far. Every 10-20 minutes it will drop the connection for up to around two minutes. This doesn't sound like a huge issue but it ends up being EXTREMELY annoying. I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone.

Slow and unreliable

Alan O., Newegg
16 November 2011
  • Pros: I didnt poke my eye out with the giant antenna.
  • Cons: Connection is slow and unreliable under Windows 7 64bit. Connection randomly drops, huge lag spikes and when it is working I get 1/10th the speed the other 4 computers in the house get (Also wireless). This card is garbage.

Packet loss

patrick s., Newegg
3 July 2011
  • Summary: I get 0 percent packetloss using wifi from my laptop in the exact same spot in my house, so clearly it is the wireless g that is causing the issues.
  • Pros: It connects to the internet.
  • Cons: 6-8% packet loss leads to horrible performance when gaming or basically anything involving the internet.

Not Win7 compatible

Shannon K., Newegg
29 May 2011
  • Summary: Shame on Linksys for still producing a product that isn't compatible with a current operating system!
  • Pros: None
  • Cons: I have to say it was my fault for purchasing a product with check that it was compatible with Windows 7. However, purchasing a new product for an Operating System that had been out for almost 2 years now it seemed ludicrous that it wouldn't be. Card installs in Win 7 and associates with the wireless net but can't talk to the router encrypted or clear.

Beware of refurbished

L. M. Baumgartel, Amazon
29 April 2011
  • Summary: This piece of hardware was not recognized by linux (fedora 11) or windows in any of 4 PCI slots. In other words, it was broken. I returned it for a refund. Next time I will just buy a new card, 20 bucks not worth the headache.

Driver didn't install

Charles R., Newegg
12 March 2011
  • Summary: Went to LinkSys site to see if they had an updated driver and they referred me to a utility that you evidently have to buy to auto-detect and download their driver. I did download a drive from them but it was for Vista 64bit and would not install on my machine either.
  • Pros: Price
  • Cons: Could not install the card under win7 64-bit in a reasonable time (2 hours). Installer said it would restart after a boot and it did not. Card was detected but no driver could be coaxed into installing for it using device manager.
