WEP Works Flawlessly

Matthew F., Newegg
2 February 2013
  • Summary: You must remove both included 1.8 dBi antennas to use an augmented external antenna with higher gain potential, or you will not get the most signal available for your bridge, but that's ok. The radio transmit power of this device is outstanding.
  • Pros: A previous review was left regarding WEP encryption not working. I am using WEP encryption without any trouble. I experimented with all available security options, and all worked as expected. Possibly a configuration mistake was made. 100+ yard bridge using 15 dBi parabolic grid replacement anten...
  • Cons: None at all for me.

Best AP Ever

Erin H., Newegg
24 September 2011
  • Summary: If you need to get internet in a location that you cant get an ethernet cable ran to and you have a wireless network setup, you need this Access Point to bridge the connection. This device receives the wireless signal and puts it back out into ethernet cable.
  • Pros: RELIABILITY, After plugging it in and easily navigating to the config page i was up and running in 5 min. Since then i havent had to reset, reconfig, reboot. It just works. It is hooked to a Hawkins 30ft outdoor cable that is hooked to a Hawkins Directional Antenna pointed at another Hawkins Dire...
  • Cons: I cant think of any.

Works great for 500 foot extension of network

Timothy A., Newegg
19 August 2010
  • Pros: After trying three different bridges that did NOT work for our needs, this model has worked GREAT! It easily connects an out building to the main network across a 500 ft open field. Signal is strong and hasn't dropped out. Personally, I think the antennas help make the connection.
  • Cons: It takes up more space than the smaller bridges we had tried -- requires a 8 inch by 10 inch base and 9 inch height with antennas.

User Review

Anonymous, Newegg
6 July 2010
  • Summary: I have this set up with the RV082 Router and a WAP2000 access point to bridge a LAN between 2 offices on either sides of the road about 600 ft. apart. The RV082 won't translate NAT past the bridge but the bridge can see everything on the router side.
  • Pros: It works! Seems to be smarter than the RV082 Cisco Router it's bridged to.
  • Cons: Absolutely none. Wait... I should've bought it sooner.

Does the job for a reasonable price

Mera Network, Mwave.com
4 February 2010
  • Summary: I needed a bridge in a closet with multiple ethernet ports for my panasonic blu-ray dvd player and sony bravia internet video link. The bridge worked perfectly and I can access BD-Live on my dvd player and I can watch and download movies and internet content on my Sony Bravia LCD.
  • Pros: Its easy to set-up, easily linked with another linksys router and quickly picks-up a signal even in a closet.
  • Cons: The software it comes with is not as useful as the linksys router software. It is not a point and click set-up, you need to have some understanding of setting-up a network to be able to connect. You will need to log into the bridges settings on-line and enter your network security and password in...

It may break right after warranty expire 1yr

John W., Newegg
5 August 2009
  • Summary: after all that trying to avoid it I had to run the RJ45 cable 50ft from the Comcast router to the parents desktop. It's cheap and last problematic. However, $112.00+tax poorer since I should have done it at the first place. Mea Culpa, you can not cheat reality including economics 101.
  • Pros: It works well and I like the design; however, WPA/2 you will have problem setting up. KISS is the best
  • Cons: I bought it for my parents, bad choice since they had signal loss at least once a week - had to reboot. After a little over one year it broke. It seems that the hub part of WET200 failed since everything else seems to work power, lights, etc.

Fails with WEP

Grant S., Newegg
19 May 2009
  • Pros: Unit seems to work well with WPA, havent had any issues getting it connect on my home network.
  • Cons: The purpose of this was to use in a business setting where we are restricted to using WEP encryption (older hardware that doesnt support WPA). I tried for quite some time to get this to work with WEP, but could not manage to get it on the network. I was able to configure the device properly, but ...
