  • Summary: I recently purchased this Cisco WRV210 Wireless Router and IT DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. WHEN I TRIED TO RETURN IT I WAS IGNORED SO I ENDED UP HAVING TO KEEP A NON-WORKING ROUTER. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE SERVICE!

Using as a repeater? Read this

Bob Nolin, Amazon
1 July 2008
  • Summary: (Note: Amazon has deleted certain key info from my review. Since they don't edit comments, read the comment below for the missing info.) After reading through many reviews here, and struggling all day to get this unit running as range extender/repeater, it looks like the negative reviews are mostly from people trying to use it as a repeater. Apparently, if you're just using it as a wireless router, it seems to work fine.

Linksys hidden costs

Salome "picky consumer", Amazon
5 January 2008
  • Summary: I have had my Linksys router for 3 years. I also had to get a bridge to extend the range because it couldn't go through walls very well. I had to call them a lot because sometimes the bridge or router somehow lost the address. They used to have free support until just very recently. My beef is with the cost of support. 3.99 a minute. ( I don't know if that includes listening for many minutes to bad music.

Steered wrong by Linksys

John, Amazon
26 November 2007
  • Summary: Product was purchased at the direction of Linksys to extend coverage to an existing Linksys (wrt54gx4) network in my home. Unable to achieve internet connectivity after installing and connecting to the product, Linksys reversed their claim that this product was compatible with my existing network. I returned it.

Bugs in firmware

G. Hovden, Amazon
14 October 2006
  • Summary: The minor problem is that the user manual claims the user ID is "admin". Well, it is not. Frustration and wasted time will occur until you somehow find out that the user ID should be left blank to log in. The major problem is that the unit only works for twelve to 36 hours before it has be rebooted. After twelve to 36 hours it looses the connection to the wireless network. Once you unplug and plug back the power cord, it will work fine for another twelve to 36 hours.

I wish I'd waited.

sunqist, Amazon
11 June 2003
  • Summary: I purchased a WAP54G, two PCMCIA 54G cards and one PCI 54G card to replace/upgrade an Orinoco RG1000 that was damaged in shipping. As long as everything was set for 802.11g only (no backwards compatibility) with NO security, everything worked brilliantly. If you ever played with netstumbler, then you probably know how dangerous having a wireless setting with no security is. I am using the latest firmware and drivers as of June 11th, 2003.

IT in Texas

Tom Carpenter "Techie and Bible Believer", Amazon
15 May 2003
  • Summary: I purchased the WAP54g in tangent with the WPC54g Notebook adapter, also from Linksys. I was able to set up the access point in a matter of minutes in unsecured mode. After changing security settings in the access point I have had intermittent difficulty with maintaining connection. The access point stops responding requiring a hard reset and reprogramming. After several attempts to resolve the problem with Linksys they have stopped responding to support requests.
