  • Summary: My wife's computer is a bit isolated from the Wi-Ri source. It showed "two bars" and performance was marginal. Comcast provided a new modem and Wi-Fi. Performance of my wife's computer really slumped. I ordered the linksys RE-1000 and installed it. My wife's computer now shows "five bars".

and that worked fine. I could also have set it up manually

  • Summary: Totally nothing to it. Only glitch was the automatic setup apparently does not support Windows 8. I had a Windows 7 computer available, and that worked fine. I could also have set it up manually.

Really bad house, really useful product.

Ancient Mariner, Amazon
11 August 2014
  • Summary: Wow! Worked much better than I had hoped. I live in a cinderblock and plaster home. My router is in the basement and the signal to my upstairs living room must pass through two of these solid walls (lots of imbedded chicken-wire to make it interesting).

Solved a problem for me

Voyager1, Staples
22 July 2014
  • Excerpt: I had a problem despite having an 802.11ac Wi-Fi router that covers the whole house. The Wi-Fi signal in the kitchen was only half that of the rest of the house. The reason was a utility room with a forced-air furnace, duct work, and metal shelving that sits between the Wi-Fi router and the kitchen.

  • Excerpt: I have used Linksys routers for years and always been very happy. Recently, I noticed a few wireless dead zones in my home that were a long distance plus had walls/floors interfering.
