Couldn't get it to work

Summary: This product is unique in a certain respect, which is that it accomplished exctly the opposite of what it promised. Rather than extending a network that had some difficulty reaching distant rooms, it shrank the network down to nothing. The configuration instructions prompted the unit to become incommunicative and to sabotage the existing network. Getting technical support led to some unique experiences as well.
Summary: I was excited to buy this item to help solve my Wi Fi "dead zones" in a low profile, plug in unit. It's not too big and hides well. The setup was super easy via my Kindle HD tablet w/ no CD needed, as advertised. I was up and running in 10 minutes or less which includes opening the box. I'm using the device in repeat mode and it does the job within 20-25 FT, but any further than that and I notice a BIG drop in signal strength.
Summary: I had a weak wireless signal on the second floor farthest away from my wireless router and my sons were having trouble playing their video games in their rooms. I wanted and easy inexpensive way to extend the signal and the Hawking HWREN25 did the job. It's small and out of sight plugged into a wall behind a desk.
Summary: From start to finish, I had this thing up and running in 10 minutes or less. That includes opening the box and unpacking it. We now have excellent WiFi signal at the opposite end of our large house, and even into my garage office. Easy setup; excellent performance; highly recommend.
Summary: Wish it could be used for wireless and a bridge at the same time. Oh, and if you're trying to portforward anything to one of your computers, you need to set up an ip that isn't automatic, because this thing will change your ip like every 10 minutes.
The trick to getting most of the repeaters to work ...

Summary: The trick to getting most of the repeaters to work is to set the routers to 20Mhz, not 20/40 Auto. The problem with this device is the way the configuration behaves after you have set it up. It is a very time consuming task to troubleshoot any problem because you need to bounce between modes(reboot) and Ethernet/Wireless. I got it to work, but figured I would buy another device that wouldn't be so difficult to manage.
Summary: I have been looking for a wireless extender and this one got good reviews and is small and supposedly simple to set up. First of all, the quick instructions imply you can configure the device wirelessly. I was unable to access it with a laptop or my iPhone. I called tech support, which is very good, and they informed me that it is necessary to configure the machine with an ethernet connection.
Summary: Bought it to cover dead space in the bedroom with repeater function. Great setup, no computer required; I used my Android phone. Especially useful when you use Linux so no fear of setup requiring Windows drivers. Solid routing.
