My first and last Hawking product
11 January 2012
Summary: I've had this range extender for a couple years now. I've tried three different times to set it up and struck out every time. Yesterday, I tried again and (mostly) got it up and running. My biggest problems with the device: 1) It takes my laptop 1 minute and 18 seconds (!
Summary: Frustrating product. Set up was fine, it kept asking for a security code and would not let me connect. Tried all possible security codes and nothing worked. Called tech and was sent to India where the rep could not understand me. After trying to say and spell my name four times, I gave up.
Summary: The idea of a wifi range repeater is a great concept. This product is horrible. Took me 4 hours over 2 days to finally get it working (the last hour and a half of which was on the phone with an outsourced customer service rep).
Summary: The instructions in their manual to set up this unit on a Mac are incomplete and outdated, so you MUST call India over a poor connection and speak with someone you won't understand - there are no other options. In the end, they couldn't get my unit running anyway.
Summary: I spent over two hours with tech support in India and still could never get this range extender to setup properly. We tried on two PCs, one with Vista and one with Windows 7, and on my new MacBook Pro.
Summary: Can access the Hawking HWREG1 Wireless G Range Extender very well from 3 laptops and a PS3. On the otherhand, it does not allow internet access. Therefore, it is a brick that serves no purpose (Might could use it for a doorstop). It extended the range of what could not be done already.
