OK but problems with setup.

Summary: The unit performs as advertised, and it did markedly improve the connection reliability for one of our computers that was intermittent in the wireless network. The problem was with setup. Setup options include AES encryption, which is what our home network was using. The problem is that, despite what the setup wizard offers, AES won't work. It took me four days of hair pulling to figure this out on my own because tech support at Hawking was of no help.
Summary: This unit is quite special. I am not sure what might be available at the time I am writing this review, some years after purchase, but at the time there was nothing like it to be had from any other manufacturer of consumer-grade networking equipment. This unit will bridge itself onto any open (or secured) WiFi network and serve as a gateway to said (AP) access point. The only other viable product that does something similar is known as a "travel router".
Summary: I found this product very difficult to configure and ended up sending it back. If your Wifi network supports Wireless-N and WEP-PSK, I recommend getting a Wireless-N extender instead. They work with a push-button system that is MUCH easier.
Summary: This product would not work with the wireless network at my college. However, the staff at my church was looking for a way to extend the reach of the wireless network there. I gace it to the church where it is providing the desired result.
Summary: I bought this product for my AT&T 2Wire dsl router - could not get it to work properly AT ALL. I'm an IT guy, so kinda know what I'm doing. Anyway, after much reconfiguring, decided instead of sending it back, to try it on my wireless Linksys at work. OMG - it hooked up in minutes, w/o a problem. So the product is not flawed, just don't use it for the 2Wire router, you'll pull your hair out trying to get it to work.
Summary: I've had this range extender for a couple years now. I've tried three different times to set it up and struck out every time. Yesterday, I tried again and (mostly) got it up and running. My biggest problems with the device: 1) It takes my laptop 1 minute and 18 seconds (!) to connect to the range extender via wifi.
Summary: I purchased this to use with our 2Wire 2701HG-B router. Our router is in the den on one side of the house, and we were not getting any signal on the other end of the house. I was able to set the repeater up within minutes, and it works great!
