Didnt live up to the throughput hip

Mark K., Newegg
28 May 2015
  • Summary: Throughput is 50% of the host's, 16Mbps will be 8 through the Repeater
  • Pros: Easy Setup. With an external Antenna connected to the unique separate Receive antenna port, you do end up with a broader available networks. Couldn't find another such device that works this way, a separate antenna for External WiFi and then two other antennas for Internal WiFi
  • Cons: The "Dual Radio" part is misleading, for I think just technology stands in the way of repeating full bandwidth. Dual-radio repeaters are interesting in theory, but unless they are on different Freq. they cannot broadcast simultaneously. The Throughput is half, I think that is just they way it end...

Works but throughput is degraded

Mark K., Newegg
28 May 2015
  • Summary: SO, I think, maybe it is the external antenna or cable. SO I put the third onboard antenna on the HW2R1 receive, sitting a few feet away from me (should be worse right). SAME RESULT. Got to be the device
  • Pros: Getting it connected up was painless. ust took a minute
  • Cons: Used the provided onboard antennas for local transmit and connected their Hi-Gain Omni antenna with low loss cable in the receive port and placed it up and away. While I have good signal, what I noticed was a 50% loss in Download Speed. With the laptop connected to the building wifi using its int...

Disappointing

Dion R., Newegg
17 February 2015
  • Summary: Bought it to replace previous Hawking which had performed well but stopped working. I have a Mac and the software_HW2R1.exe file from Hawking website is Windows only.
  • Pros: Easy Setup
  • Cons: Poor speed, poor range. Waste of money.

mbps eater

JS, Amazon
29 January 2015
  • Summary: I'm not sure if I had unrealistic expectations or what but this thing didn't only do nothing to extend the range in my home, it dropped my download speed from 53mbps to 1.3 mbps<<< not a typo. Once I plugged the repeater into my modem with the cord, it went up to 2mbps.

Really worth the cost, having such a strong wireless signal now.

Joel C. Walker "WhoDoctorK9", Amazon
23 July 2014
  • Summary: Awesome Repeater, really strong signal and helped bring a better experience to my Netflix viewing. My television is in my livingroom and the modem/router is in a back room that was added to the house, very thick wall between the back room and the livingroom.

JUST A PERFECT SOLUTION FOR WIRELESS

ROGER,, TigerDirect.com
6 February 2014
  • Summary: My 2 story home would not allow the wireless signal to reach both floor. I tried several locations, but I could not find a single location where it worked for all of the house. With this Hawking Repeater, it now works everywhere and is not sensitive to location the device in a single location.

DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT ! - READ REVIEWS BEFORE BUYING , troublesome product, poor Hawking Tech Support

simon Josowitz, Amazon
10 December 2013
  • Summary: UPDATE 4 March 5,2014 : Amazon denied my request to return product to the reseller. So I'm stuck with a useless device. Buy only from Amazon directly. Look at product description carefully and never buy from a re seller. The A to Z guarantee is useless in this instance.

Doesn't Live Up To The Promise

johnw, Amazon
15 October 2013
  • Summary: I live on a sailboat in a marina. The WiFi Access Point is over 100 yards away through a forest of masts and big power boats. I need a high-power connection that I can share with various devices. The Hawking HW2R1 isn't it. I did not have any setup problems as reported by many others.
