Summary: Of course I was very excited to hear that I would finally be able to have internet on a Mac tower that did not come with it's own WIFI card installed. SO this would have been the easy fix, right? Well, from the start of using it, it started dropping my internet connection about every 15 minutes, where I have to unplug it and plug it back in to gain back connection. WHICH IS ANNOYING.
Summary: A waste of time and money, buy NETGEAR or ASUS for the same money. Auto install and connect without crashing your computer.
Cons: IT Professional: I tried this USB WIFI adaptor in three different systems. Windows does not recognize it at all. The install disk was no help. You are better off downloading the drivers and installing before using the component. A older Dell desktop it crashed the system. Newer systems accept it better but once the drivers are found and installed. It will not connect to the WIFI source. Manually input of the network and sign in has no affect. It will connect and then ...
Summary: Don't buy if you want something reliable. Do not use if you need to download anything > 1GB or if you plan to use for online gaming.
Pros: Cheap, conveniently small, etc. If you want to relive the 90's where connections frequently dropped, loading web pages took minutes and sometimes hours this is the product for you.
Cons: Too unreliable. Very disappointed in this product. It seems like anything as small as a sneeze will make you lose connection no matter how close you are to an access point. Online gaming, skype? Forget about it. Half the time can't even load a YouTube video properly without dropping the connection. Tried it with multiple computers: laptop, desktop, and raspberry pi with similar poor results.
Summary: Very disappointed with the performance. My laptop computer sitting right next to the minitower with the Edimax USB wireless adapter has 4 bar signal and 54Mbps speed with no connection issues.
Summary: Easy to get running. I was using it on a pc in the same room as the router. Upload speed was terrific. 30-35mbps which was my max speed using Fios , not so lucky with the download speed, download speed was anywhere from 5-14mbps. Returned and bought the NetGear N600. It was much more expensive but it showed download speeds of 40-43mbps with no adjustments and in a totally different room from the router.
