A very useful and lightweight product to give you ultimate wireless power.

midgmarina, Ebay
26 April 2011
  • Summary: This product from D-Link is a very useful product. It's lightweight and small to travel with and works well if you are not in reach of a normal wireless router which enables you to be on the move and with wireless.

nice portable router

Raymond L., Newegg
14 August 2010
  • Pros: small, light, highly configurable. I bought it to replace my Linksys travel router which burned out. After 2 years, this thing is still working fine.
  • Cons: weak, poor range. only works well in a single room.

I travel 30 weeks a year; this is part of my travel bag

Dean!, Amazon
29 December 2009
  • Summary: I travel some 30 weeks a year and this is a great product in a nice compact travel case. While most hotels offer wireless, some only offer wired connections. But MORE IMPORTANTLY, a lot of hotels' wireless is throttled-down or significantly slower than the wired connection. (You can check this with various Internet speed checks online) Some of my travels are last-minute and I don't get to research the hotel with wireless connectivity - now it doesn't matter.

Cool little router/AP/bridge

Amazon Customer, Amazon
12 December 2008
  • Summary: I bought this purely as a travel accessory. My parents have broadband, but no wireless, so the access point seemed very nifty. So I crack it out and realize is also a router and a bridge ( which they call client mode ). Oddly enough this may be the least expensive wireless bridge on the market right now. It does WPA encryption and all the web front end is easy to figure out.

One minor problem

Chad d., Newegg
9 September 2008
  • Summary: Great for traveling to places where only wired connections are available.
  • Pros: Easy to configure. Portable. Comae with everything I needed in the box.
  • Cons: One time it froze and I needed to reset it. Not the best range.

Great for my Xbox

Chris H., Newegg
29 July 2008
  • Summary: This thing is tiny and comes with nice accessories, like a usb power adapter so you can power it off your laptop, that fit neatly into the carrying case
  • Pros: Half the price of buying Microsoft's wireless device for the Xbox360, and you can use it for other things too.
  • Cons: Reconfiguring was a bit tedious when I switched between using it on my Xbox and using it on a different wireless network at another location.

Excellent product that could use better instructions

M. Sylvia "mjs", Amazon
22 July 2008
  • Summary: Most importantly, this product does what it says it does and it works perfectly once it's setup. I've used it while traveling across Asia Pacific and it did just what I wanted: It gave me an quick and easy to establish portable wireless presence with all of the convenience and freedom that comes with that. My only complaint with the device -- and the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars -- was that the setup documentation is lacking.

It works as advertised; documentation needs work

David Moskowitz, Amazon
27 May 2008
  • Summary: i've had the D-Link DWL G730AP for about 6 weeks and I'm very satisfied. Either as a portable wireless gateway or fixed, it works as advertised. My only complaint is that the documentation while simple is incomplete and missing some details (specifically regarding the need password for each mode of operation and more specifically for "client mode"). Quick notes: The range is surprising for so small a device.

good things come in small packages

TXMahaRaj, Amazon
26 April 2008
  • Summary: I bought this router because I needed one in my second home (corporate apartment). It works great, and I was surprised how small it is. I haven't taken advantage of the portability yet, but I like that I can power the device with a USB cable (which means that I don't have to take the AC adapter with me when I travel). The router administration has all the features of a full-sized router. I've set up MAC filtering without any problems.
