Summary: I got one of these around December, because at the time it was the latest and greatest. I’ve used other D-Link cards before and they work well with the same series (Xtreme N, RangeBooster N 650, RangeBooster N, Mimo, Wireless 108G, etc.
Pros: I have gotten a marked improvement in my signal strength and reliability since upgrading to this Adapter and router DI-634M from my old Linksys WRT54G which died on me after 2 decent years (I used a Linksys wireless card with that setup). I use my setup in a townhouse in a densely congested area ...
Cons: I am used to the Linksys setup interface which I prefer. However, this one is growing on me. I don't like how they occasionally pester you to upgrade to full "Network Magic", essentially a subscription fee to use the "premium" router and client management content.
Summary: I normally have good luck with DLink stuff (I have a DWL-G650 that works great) but purchased the MIMO router and wanted the benefits of the MIMO card. The router has been fine as well. Guess I'll have to wait and try out another model card when they come up with one.
Pros: none for me
Cons: I have two Dell Latitude c610 laptops. Even with the driver properly installed it locks up both laptops. Looked for a new driver on their website and there wasn't one. The software would not install either. I called Dlink's support and the guy's response was to use the default Windows software.
Summary: I wish the included utility was more flexible / customizable with respect to encryption. Only simple support for WPA-PSK is included, and no WPA2.
Pros: great transfer rates when it works. No complaints except the following.
Cons: Minor annoyance, when this card gets hot, it won't restart itself. For example, when working with it plugged in for any length of time, if the computer restarts (or resumes from a power-save mode) the wireless card won't turn back on. Have to take it out and let it cool down, then plug it back in...
Summary: I have two Dell laptops... and maybe this is a Windows problem, but how can I tell? The installtion software will not load on my latitude, but it does install on my Inspiron. It says, 'No Card Found'... uninstalled everything but Windows and nothing helps.
Summary: I like the card now that I have got it up and running. But the installation instructions leave a lot to be desired. The CD did not want to auto start and that is a pain. After several tries I did get it to start and load the drivers.
Summary: My laptop run Win2K. If the card is installed when it boots, it either crashes before the boot is complete or soon after. If it boots and then I install the card, it works runs fine. The config tool is for XP only. Once running it works great, really fast.
