D-Link DWL-3200AP

The DWL-3200AP from D-Link is an AirPremier managed access point. This business-class device is designed primarily for use in large enterprises in need of a versatile access point. As such, the D-Link DWL-3200AP offers extensive security and network management features.

This access point, which measures 6.48 x 1.25 x 7.27 inches (W x H x D) with a weight of 1.33 pounds, has a plenum-rated metal body which complies with strict fire codes to ensure safety. Its twin 5dBi high gain dipole antennas, which are removable and have reverse SMA connectors, give it a maximum range of 325 feet indoors and up to 1,640 feet outdoors.

The D-Link DWL-3200AP can be configured to function in three modes: Access Point, Wireless Distribution System (WDS) with Access Point and WDS with no Access Point broadcasting. With several DWL-3200AP units and WDS support, network administrators can set them to bridge with one another. It also features Spanning Tree Protocol when used in WDS mode.

Security features include WEP (64 bit, 128 bit and 152 bit), WPA and WPA 2 (Personal and Enterprise) encryption, VLAN tagging, MAC address filtering, Wireless LAN segmentation, rouge AP detection and control over SSID broadcast.

The D-Link DWL-3200AP offers several features for advanced network management through SSL, SSH and Telnet. These features include support for syslog, Wi-Fi Multimedia (WMM) Quality of Service (QoS) and the ability to manage multiple access points from a single location. The latter feature can be done through D-Link’s AP Manager II or the D-View SNMPv3 management module.

The DWL-3200AP also supports 802.3af Power over Ethernet (PoE) for use in locations where a power outlet is not readily accessible.x
