Summary: This is a convincing fake, it works the same as far as I can tell, but the web configuration interface was remade from scratch, with misspelled english words in it, the D-Link logo in the web interface is fuzzy, clearly not official corporate art. It came without a box, manual or CD, just in some plastic bags. I suspect the original tooling for making these has been repurposed for making unauthorized clones.
Summary: I bought the DWL-2100AP to add WiFi Internet access for phones and tablets. The manual, which ships on a CD but which you can also easily find online, was easy for me to follow (I've had some experience setting up and maintaining small LANs at home and work, but I'm far from a networking expert).
Summary: I've had one of these running for 3-4years non-stop. It has been outdoors in a weather protected housing all that time. Central Florida weather- freezing temperatures in the winter + very moist humid air in the summer. It's been running as a bridge without a single hickup. It just died on me about a week ago. There was a big thunderstorm, and the unit was running without a surge protector on the outlet, so I think the fault is lightning (and my carelessness).
Summary: Yes this 2100 ap is a grat buy i wanted one and thay were 159.oo about 2 years later i seen them here for 20 so i had to get two of them tha work very good for what I warn them for on my network i donr have to put a de frunt fermware ddwrt it just clients fine with out it
Summary: I had hoped to use this router as a repeater, but although it shows a good signal, it will simply not function as an extension of my wireless network. Satellite devices were not being assigned their own IP addresses as part of the wireless network. I wired an ethernet cable (50ft.) and am using it as an access point with a different channel and network name than my d-link router.
Summary: Be wary of refurbished products not coming from the manufacturer or official distributor. Not always easy for a non-technical person to work with. If sold directly by D-Link probably would have been a better outcome.
