Summary: Very nice footprint device. However, that is where the pro's begin. How in the world they can call this a 300 Mbps device is astounding. I ran Oookla's internet speed test several times and the fastest I could get was 25 Mbps! In ad-hoc/infrastructure mode the most it reached was around 58 Mbps. The Linksys USB device in my other computer gets over 100 Mbps using Ookla and operates at well beyond 215 Mbps in ad-hoc/infrastructure mode.
Summary: So small I don't even notice it and I get great reception all through my house. Don't even notice the blue blinking light some have mentioned in their reviews, but maybe it has to do with where your usb is located.
Summary: Plugged into an older model Vaio laptop (VGN-FW448JB) but is slow to connect to my DIR-655 router. Takes about 2 minutes to connected after waking from standby. The built-in wireless device was also slow to connect, which is why I'm trying this device. Nov 30, 2014: After several months of Windows updates, the device seems to be worked as advertised. I'm not sure exactly what made the difference since the initial install. But am satisfied with its performance.
Summary: Since I only paid a low price, I did not get any drivers but downloading them from D Link's site was a breeze. The installation went quickly thereafter and it works like a charm. My HP Pavilion Entertainment's inbuilt adapter had started working intermittently at best and this is a very cheap and yet very good replacement at the cost of using up a USB slot. It works well with the other D Link products in our home.
Summary: I needed a Wi-Fi card for a computer and this weekend with Windows 8.1 without an issue, it also works with Ubuntu 12.04 and Fedora 20 without the need for kernel recompiling. The down side is, with no real external antenna, you really need to have it be line if sure or it will drop off.
Summary: I get these for WDLIVE TV use for people to cheap to run hardline ethernet to the WD. Only bad thing is the super bright blue LED on this thing, definitely need to stick these in the back port out of sight, will drive you berserk if it is on the side port.
