Summary: Update - I had a problem accessing the router settings. Called DLINK under warranty support. Excellent help determined that Microsoft Internet Explorer was the issue. Removed latest IE 11 which reverted to IE 10 and the access issue was resolved. Great support and I have no other issues with this router since purchasing in March, 2014.
Summary: I have been using the DIR-865L since it was available on Amazon (January 2013) and have had no problems. I have multiple access points and bridges throughout the house and property (using a Engenus ENH200 antenna about 200ft away for our solar system). I would have to guess at any given time there is 5 to 10 devices accessing the internet. This thing is a beast! I do keep the firmware updated as needed.
Summary: Don't know why people are having problems with this unit. Mine is in a basement corner location and have 6 wireless devices and 6 wired devices to this unit through out a 2 story house and the signal is constantly strong, better than I thought it would be. Even out on the patio or garage the signal never wavers and never drops.
Summary: d-link is a company that specialize in some elite routers that you have to know some networking to get them going and i was suprised that i didnt have to use that to get this 1 going. i plugged it up and it started working on its own only drawback so far is there "myd-link lite" that to me has ALOT of flaws that need to be worked out. but the hardware is very reliable.
Some connectivity issues. UPDATE - Major Connectivity Issues
30 December 2013
Summary: UPDATE JANUARY 25, 2014 The router has started to act up and it now disconnects every few minutes!!! The internet speeds are terrible and its not a problem with my modem because when I connect directly to my modem everything is fine and I have solid and consistent speeds. I'll update this review if I find a solution. This is a dual band AC router. The range on this router is not as good as i expected it to be.
Summary: I work in IT as a network administrator and have had good experiences with high end D Link consumer routers, that's why I discounted all the negative reviews I saw for this. I am very sorry I did that. I lose my connection both wireless and hardwired constantly. Powering it off for long periods of time seems to work, but 5 minutes or less doesn't help. I have sent an email to D Link support about this problem but have not gotten a reply.
Summary: Just awful. Got this to improve the range we had with a Linksys WRT160N, but have not been able to see other computers on the network. We have two MS workgroups with mixed Windows 7 and XP machines, a NAS, a Roku device, and a Linux server. With the Linksys all could see each other. Not so with the D-link. We've spent many hours trying to resolve this, but the end result is that we use sneaker net to move files, and the automatic backups to the NAS has gone to pot.
Not powerful enough to use Dual Band or AC; Has issues with extended use.

Summary: I've had this for several months now, and in all honesty I tried to give it a chance. When I first got it, it ran like a striped ape. After a few months, the quality of the connection started to go downhill. I reset all the configurations and wiped it completely, and it ultimately ended up the same. I live in a small house and have this in the center. Even older Linksys 45G routers fill the whole space, but it may be because they have actual antennas.
Summary: I configured for 4 subnets. 2 at 2.4ghz and 2 at 5 ghz. Put access points on the 5 ghz subnets, and devices on the 2.4 ghz. With bandwidth spread around I can run sustained video rates internally of 200+ Mbits, no problems. It was worth every penny. I did all configurations manually.
